Greetings! long time lurker,  finaly have a reason to post due to an issue i cant seem to figure out.

I just installed an alarm/remote start on my Wifes 2002 Jeep Liberty....everything works perfect except for the factory door lock switch! I can open/close the door locks with both the factory and the aftermarket remotes, but now the switch in the door panel has no reaction!??? Any ideas would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

did you actually cut the wire when you were tapping into it???

No i did not....and for the life of me i cant figure out why its happeneing.....i need to go back into it and unhook the alarm wires to see if it cures it....maybe a diode will help?? it has me baffled....

You might try a diode just for giggles.  Did you check the fuses??  Is the factory switch plugged in??  Did you tie in the resistors out of the alarm and then after the resistors combine them into one single wire to the lock/unlock wire??  Stupid questions, but the solution to most problems is most of the time very obvious, therefore overlooked.  Good luck.

I did a quick glance at the fuses and they looked ok....will check deeper tonight. I never too the door panel off or dissconnect any plugs so i cant see why the factory switch would be unplugged....and its both door switchs....pass and driver that dont work. As far as the resistors go....the alarm activates relays that switch a ground through resistors, then both wires are spliced together and to the lock/unlock wire of the truck..

At this point i'm going to try and install some diodes and then try and move the resistors between the ground supply and the relay instead of between the relay and the truck where they are now....maybe somehow there something weird going on where the truck can see the resistors somehow and screwing with the switch funstions???

if you used relays, theres no need for diodes. diodes are only used if relays aren't used. I would bet on a fuse,or did you actually cut the door lock wire you tapped into. if you used t tap or butt connector, triple check them. good luck

Nope no cutting of any wire here (except for the starter wire)  All my connections are soldered in. I used to be a full time installer for over a year servicing dealerships in the area for a company.....back in the day i was doing 6-8 alarm/remote starts a day....i've been out of this field for about 10yrs now....i still play on friends cars doing stereos/alarms etc....i just dont have the exposure like i did back in the day. The technology out now a days i impressive to say the least.

Ran into this a few years ago, somehow the pass side door lock switch module fried.. never did figure out why, but it was the same symptom.. unhook your rs unit and try it.. then test with the dmm to see what you get off the switch [dl wire itself.. If there is no signal the switch module is shot. If you get signal, it's the wrong resistors confseung the bcm.. 3.75k Lock 400 unlock [or] 1.4k lock and 430 unlock...

I ran into this problem today with my 99 Sierra I had to put in two relays to change the door lock polarity and now the driver side and passenger side door lock switches don't work. I did make the mistake of grounding out the positve side of one of the relays while trying to attach them up in the dash and blew the fused wire to the power side of the relays. Did I fry the BCM for the locks or just a possible fuse or stock relay. The factory fob will unlock the driver door only.
