Remote Starter, 07 Honda Civic, Accord

I have just recently purchased a Honda Civic and a Honda Accord both 07. I also just purchased 2 DEI 561T and 556HW Bypass. I have never hooked a bypass up before nor work on a Honda. I do installs for myself and a pretty quick learner. Is there anything I should know before I get in to this? Are the DEI pieces any good for these cars? Where do I find the DATA wire for the bypass and what colors? Also I have seen the wiring diagram for these cars and it says I have to use diodes on the door triggers. My question is do I need to do this if I am hooking up an alarm only. I am just hooking up a remote starter NO alarm.

By the way both cars are LX models. The Civic I was told had a factory alarm and the Accord did not, just keyless entry and trunk pop. Am I going to lose function of the remotes once it is remotely started? If so is there a way not too?

I am not a DEI fan.....of anything they build or sell. Anyways, Both the Civic, and the Accord LX's are straight foward installs.

Accord:

TRANSPONDER IGNITION	BLACK / YELLOW	At 7-pin plug on Ignition switch assembly	+

Also found at a green plug (I think thats the color) on top of the key cylinder)

you will lose factory remotes when the car is running. both of them. you can get a remote and antenna for the 561t   or buy a 561r or a 562t and use that remote that comes with it. It depends what you want the remotes to do, locks, panic, trunk, aux, driver door priority, etc.

I wouuld return the two RS add-on units, 561t. factory alarm have a very limited range which beats the purpose of having the unit.

you need to get a stand-alone units like 561r, as mentioned above.

And, the 556Hw will not work on the Civic, may or may not work on the Accordian.

May as well ditch it, and go with an XK05 programmed for a PKH4 for the Civic, PKH3 for the Accord. Other than that, may need to disarm the Accord (in the door), no factory alarm on the Civic that I have seen so far. The 561 is an add on piece to OEM keyless remotes. They unfortunately don't work when the car is running (the OEM remotes, that is), and tend to not have tremendously good range. A better bet would be to go to something based on the 562 platform, or a 561 that has remotes (IE: Viper 130XV). Now would be a good time to consider going to the SST units for their lovely range.......

Thanks You all for the feedback. It seems like it is going to be a pain in the buut to install. I like the idea of having the 1 key to operate everything. To wire in a whole new systems and everything else seems to less worth it then just leaving it alone. I just want to have it start from my house as I was getting ready for work. Did not need much range, I will return these units and deal with it another time.  Thanks again everyone.

if you can remotely unlock/lock your car from your home and willing to give up the KE feature after RS, then use the add-on unit.
