My wife and I had a Viper 130XV installed into our 2004 Honda Civic LX by an authorized Viper dealer.  This is my wife's primary vehicle.  Weeks after we had it installed, I drove the car and noticed the door locks automatically locking after the car was started, and would automatically unlock after the car was shut off.

Perplexed, I checked with the shop that installed the remote start system and they told me the system we have won't automatically lock or unlock the doors...and that it must be a Honda setting.  So, I checked with Honda.  Honda told me that the 2004 model Civic doesn't have that feature.  So....I pulled out the Viper booklet that came with the system and it is in fact a standard feature to automaticcally lock/unlock depending on the position of the ignition.

My question is, how do I disable this?  It drives us nuts and I don't want to prematurely wear out the power lock selenoids/actuators over this feature I have no interest in having.

Ignition controlled door locks are indeed an option on most DEI product. I am very surprised that an authorized dealer would tell you this is not an option.

I posted the installation manual here.

The manual explains how to turn this feature on and off as well as all other features such as run time.

I really do not think you will wear out your actuators from this feature, but if you do not like the feature you should not have to live with it.

I, too, was surprised that they didn't know of the feature.

Thanks for posting the link to the installation manual.  I did not see in the manual how to turn off the feature, however.  Can you please tell me what page number to refer to?

Thanks again for the help!  This forum is wonderful!

programming is required. bring it back to your installer and him/her reprogram it. just in case, warranty wont be void.
