I have installed a remote starter in a 1994 Ford F-250 with a  6.9 diesel engine.  Everything works except the duration of the crank time (too short).   I could not locate the 'tach' wire because there is no coil to trace it to, so I took the signal from the alternator until I could find a fix.  I assume that the remote is being fooled into thinking that the engine is running as soon as the motor begins to turn over.  Can I use the fuel injection as a signal even though it does not have direct injection?  Where is the easiest place to get an 'RPM' or 'running' signal that won't confuse my remote starter?   I cannot locate a wiring diagram for the truck.

Thanks in advance for your help!

if you have a tachometer, try behind the instrument cluster.

I am trying to fix the instrument cluster in  a 94 Ford diesel truck.  I cannot find a wiring diagram.  The fuel guage does not work - indicates below empty on either tank.  The oil pressure guage does not function and the tach only works when the parking lights are off.  The oil pressure has not worked for a while but the Tach and Fuel Guage likely stopped working when I was installing a remote starter and accidentally shorted out a wire on the ignition switch.  I do not see any blown fuses in the fuse panel but maybe there are more fuses or fusible links in a different location.  I would greatly appreciate any experience you may have to share.

Thanks in advance!

deisel tach wire is WHITE \ PINK you'll find this wire in the main harness runs on the inside of the firewall to the left of the brake pedal. Wait to start wire is BLACK \ PINK (-) you will find it at the warning light in the dash, don't foget to isolate it with a diode to keep battery from draning. A 1 amp diode will fe just fine, the stripe side facing away from the light and connect your wait  to start wire on the stripe side.Test Wires
