I am stumbling though I install 1100F and the remote engine starter in 2006 Explorer according to the manual.

The step on which I am stumbling is the following.
It is in this manual, "Press and release the programming button once and remote start the vehicle."
At this time, LED keeps lighting red. And, the engine never starts.

(It is possible to start normally by removing 1100F, and using 'JBS 791 Universal Bypass Module'. However, I don't want to keep using JBS 791, because I don't want to leave the spare key in the car.)

I connected vehicle and 1100F as follows.
BLUE/WHITE -- Negative output of engine starter.
BLACK ------- Ground of vehicle.
RED --------- +12V constant.
PINK -------- Anti theft module's "Ignition" wire.
GRAY/RED ---- Anti theft module's "TX" wire.
GREEN/ RED --- Anti theft module's "RX" wire.

What is my mistake?
I have only two keys appended to the vehicle. Should I add the key from the dealer?

Please correctly lead me, and help. And, it apologizes for my poor English.
Thanks.

never used the 1100F,
dont like using universal bypass either.

I perfer the PKU-F2 to bypass Fords. (does not require you to give up a key, or cut any wires)
all you need is 12v and status output (which you already have)

It is the exact same as programming a new key. Always got the programming to work on first try.

check bypasskit.com or ebay.

captainzab, Thank you for your reply.

I investigate PKU-F2 though I did not know.
Thank you for information on Bypass unit.

However, I continuously want information on 1100F.
Thanks.

The 1100F is a real POS. If you want a very reliable bypass for Ford, use the DEI 556S. It uses a coil like the 556U, yet you don't have to loose a key.

okay, i read through the install manual.
You got 3E, wiring seems to be correct. (not sure what it means by installation mode though)

Can you remote start with the key in the ignition (to comfirm that you can actually remote start in the first place)

Mike M2: Thanks for the reply.
When other by-pass units are bought, it becomes reference very much!
Thank you for your advice.

captainzab: Thanks for the reply.
Thank you for sparing time to reading the manual of 1100F.
My vehicle is classified into 3E according to the manual as you say.

I can remote start by putting the key on the cylinder without using 1100F.
The problem happens by STEP3 of 2B by the manual when 1100F is installed.
(2B, Step3 is "Press and release the programming button once and remote start the vehicle." )

It is the following with the problem.
1. LED keeps shining in red when I advance to Step3, and press and release the programming button once.
2. I can't remote start.

I am considering some these causes.
a. 1100F is broken.
b. It fails in the programming.

However, I follow the procedure and am doing the programming. For instance, 5seconds are not exceeded between each step. I don't understand the cause if failing.

Please give further advice to me.
Thanks.

Ive only used a few 1100f  s but they all worked great for me.  what instalation mode are you using?  it should be mode 2.  Also with the instructions it gives you a trouble shoot guide and tells you what the problem is depending on what the led does.  the unit programs easily if its wired properly and set for the proper mode.

mando2155: Thanks for your reply.

I'm doing the programming by using mode 2. It failed similarly though the programming was tested by using mode 1.
I review wiring and work again. If wiring and work are proper, is 1100F broken? Another 1100F will be bought and it test..

Thanks.

Thank you for a many kind reply.

Afterwards, I bought PKU-F2. It works very well. I will send back 1100F to the manufacturer. The purpose is to judge to be broken or normal.

I can enjoy the car-life enhanced thanks to you.
Many thanks & regards.

I have used a couple all where good but  one and I spent an hour trying to get it to program it would not go into mode 2. Tried a couple of differant ones then got it also some of the rx and tx wires are reversed.

chris354: Thanks for the reply.

Are TX and the RX wiring reversed? I checked the manual and the wiring diagram of Explorer many times. However, it was not thought that the wiring diagram of 1100F was wrong. I try again before it sends it back to the manufacturer. And, I will report to this forum.

Thanks.

I installed 1100F again today. The result did not change though the wiring for TX and RX was reversed. 1100F seems to be broken when guessing from this state. PKU-F2 is working very well for my vehicle now, 1100F will be thrown away. Because the guaranteed term of 1100F has ended...

I am very indebted to everybody in this forum. I wish to express my gratitude to 12Volt.com and everybody.

Very thanks and regards.

cdogrj16: Thanks for the reply.

Of course, I had the second key and tried programming. However, the program was never completed. I was out of order DEI 1100F because of the beginning or think that I destroyed it later. PKU-F2 needs the second key, and the procedure of the program is quite the same as 1100F. And, PKU-F2 works very well by my vehicle now.

it is made thru trilogix and i have had issues with their unit where you enter programming mode( key on, wait for theft light to go out, 2nd key on, wait for theft light to go out, )then remote start and vehicle will not start first time, but shut it down then unit has learnewd and works, i believe its since the unit send info dat so quick car gets confused, but give it a try as i stated above and see if it works

I used the 1100F twice so far and worked great both times when customers don't want to spend money on a key.  Just a thought with the 1100F I have always connected  to the ground in the transponder connector which is pin1 in 3B or pin 2 in 3E as well as the ignition in the transponder connector.  Also Blue/white is to be connected to a ground when running......
