Toyota w/ transp located in ECU or indep?

I was just wondering if anyone know about toyota vehicles such as 98+ camry and 99+ 4runner have transponder (that do have them, not all do) built into the ECU or have a separate immobilizer system?

i think its in the key....but i think the question your asking is does the immobilizer have its own control module or does it run through the ecu.?right? if so my answer would probably be that it goes through the keysense cylinder  then ecu because the cars usually start but the fuel cuts off and its stalls. ecu controls fuel.

why do you want to know? were u thinking of just taking it out instead of integrating it? i know my friend upgraged his ecu for his turbo and he lost his immobilizer.

I have seen several Toyota cars like the Land Cruiser, Corolla, Prado and the factory immobilizer have its own control module.
In some Toyota cars is very easy to reach this module and in others is buried inside the dash and is PITA to get them.

What exactly you want to do?
