Looking for any insight or expertise. Just finished installing an Audiovox APS998 with the ByPasskit GM-SL2 module. I did not hook up all of the bells and whistles associated with the 998. The Alarm and remote starter are both working, HOWEVER, I am getting three indicators illuminated on my cluster (ABS, Parking BRAKE and T/C for traction control). They do not illuminate while the truck is running under R/S, but come on when starting using the key or after switching to the key in ignition from R/S. They would not clear even after driving. I was unable to remove the indicators my disconnnecting any single connection. Once I disconnected the entire unit from the Ignition Harness and drove about 1/4 mile, the lights extinguished. I am guessing there is some sort of feedback problem on one or seveeral connections. Below are my hookups: 998 Ignition harness hooked up using a GM-12 T-Harness (very easy) Brake input (white +) Tach signal (not pink, black or brown at ignition coil) Hood Pin (both for alarm trigger and R/S shutdown) Siren Horn (Black at Grey BCM) Domelight Relay Control (to gr/blk at black BCM) Ground (to frame) GM-SL2 purple data wire to OBD II pink to ignition 1 door switch and door lock unlocks are mated to cooresponding 998 wires I am guessing there is a problem with AMP or feedback in the harness itself since the truck doesn't fault until under keyed ignition. Please shed any light or advice on the subject. Thanks, otherlandon

It's a pretty straight forward installation but check the T-Harness for continuity between the 2nd IGN wire of the vehicle and the RS unit to ensure that it's connected and also to make sure that you have 12 volts under remote start on this wire.

Thank you for replying. I have further isolated the fault to two connections between the ignition harness and the GM-SL2. To re-establish a baseline, with all connections severed, the faults clear from the dash. It is upon connecting the GM-SL2 and initializing it that the faults return, without the R/S connected (no power, no nothing). The two wires in questions are the pink wire that connects to IGN 1 and the red wire that connects to 12V. The Pink wire is spliced to the IGN wire just before the harness attaching to the R/S and the red is spliced to one of the 12V sources with a 15 AMP fuse between the splice and the GM-SL2. Is it possible this 15AMP fuse is the problem (should be removed as the line is already fused)? Where the 12V sources are spliced into the harness, I already have two 15A fuses run in parallel on each 12V source. This is advised in the ausiovox instructions. One step closer.

Forgot to mention... also tried same configuration with a GM-SL (not GM-SL2) and got the same indications.

Doesn't sound like the fuses on 12Volt lines are an issue at all. That's not the problem. As Jeff from Velocity mentioned above, Is Ignition #2 (white?) wire getting 12volts @ remote start? That's very important. ------------- Good Enough Isn't!

Understood. Checked and yes 12V at IGN2 to R/S. The trouble I am having is that the fault lights appear before th R/S is connected. They appear immediately after connecting and initializing the GM-SL2 through (pink to IGN1), (red to 12V) and (purple to OBD II). The harness is not even connected to the R/S and the faults show up. Is the 12V from IGN2 to R/S supposed to do something to extinguish the faults generated from hooking up the GM-SL2? I appreciate your help and patience.

I had a similar problem.....I don't know if it is related but I hope it helps you.
The avalance is passlock 2, if you hook the passkey or passlock wires up on the gmsl2 by mistake, the car will remote start fine and then give you dash lights when the key is in. The gmsl2 does all that through the purple data wire, so those wires are not required.
like I said I don't know if this will help you, but it's worth saying anyhow.

Do you have access to another GM-SL2 ? Try another module if you think that all your wires are connected properly.
