Newish Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge Keys/Fobs

I have only done a few of the new Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge vehicles with the keys that have the fobs built right in (buttons on the keys) and have noticed that, with the ones I have done, the factory fobs still work while the car is remote started. Does anyone know if this is true for all the new Dodge style keys? I know with most other makes the factory fobs are ignored by the car while the car is running.

This is actually something I am interested in seeing an answer to as well.

I know for a fact with a 2006 Grand Caravan that if the key with the remote is in the ignition with the vehicle running, the remotes no longer function. But if you use just a transponder bypass (gray key in a 556U is the type that was used) , when remote started the factory remotes still operate. This particular van had both sliding doors and rear hatch controllable via the factory remote and the system I was installing had only 1 aux output, so I just hooked up the starter portion. I set it up so it could be activated by 3 lock pulses and with the DEI remotes. This gave the owner the option of carrying just one remote if they wanted to, and still have the added range of the DEI remote when needed.

Is it the key sense that stops the factory remotes from working, or is it the transponder in the remote in key that deactivates the remotes?

We do a lot of one-button, remote-start-only installs on newer Chryslers........yes, the original remotes work when remote started.

Here's a quick rundown for cars with the remote and key built together:

Ford, Mitsubishi: Don't connect anything to the keysense wire, and you'll be fine.

DaimlerChrysler: No problem.

Honda, Toyota: Factory remotes DO NOT work with engine running.

Nissan: Lock/unlock works with engine running, but not trunk or panic.

Thanks Luongo! I also have noticed that most Hyundai still work if you do not hook up the second ign/acc that is not needed for rs. I didn't know you were still around on this site. You still have the car with that factory touch screen?

Agreed one button basic starters seem to be the way to go on the newer vehicles (honda/toyota aside). Also all the newer GM's will still work after remote started as well. All newer Ford/Lincoln/Mercury will work, and most of the older, but not all. I know offhand the earlier escapes won't work once remote started. Newer subaru will work if you don't hit the keysense wire.
