this is for jeff or anyone else who can help me out. I don't have much time before i have to take off to night school, so any help is appreciated. thanks installed my 554t on my 99 ram last night, and i blew a 30A fuse on the satellite bank. I didn't hook up the starter kill relay. Could this have been the problem? Question on the hookup of the starter kill relay- do the yellow wire from the relay and the pink from the satellite both go into the ign.1 wire? Do the purple from the satellites and the black from the starter kill relay go the motor side of the starter wire? Does the green from the relay go to the key side of the starter wire?

Check your connections and of you power wire and make sure they are not touching ground, you are blowing a fuse because there is an error in your install somewhere. Look it over closely ------------- J Rilla

do i need a diode between pins 86 and 85, or is this already done on the rlay that came with the alarm?

Doesn't matter if you have the diode or not. Use the diagram that Jrilla has and wire up the starter disable this way. If you are blowing a 30 amp fuse on the satellite bank, then there is definitely a short somewhere. Trace the wire that the fuse is on and make sure that it is not grounding out anywhere along the way.

the lead with the blown fuse goes between the 16ga. constant 12v+ and the relay satellite pack. what the heck?

Sounds like maybe one of your relay satelite feeds for constant is actually connected to a Grounded wire. Double check that the wires arent slighty different (ie. stripe on one and not the other) Also. the starter kill is optional and shouldn't affect the relay harness fuse problem. So eliminate that until your fuse issue is resolved. Also check that your relay isn't faulty and shorting to ground.

how would i check to see if the relay is good ? how would i check to see if the wiring within the satellite bank is ok? i stripped, soldered, and taped all of my connections. The wire that's blowing fuses is one of the two heavy red wires coming off of the relay bank, (they're both tied to the heavy red wire in the ignition harness). The alarm -door/hood triggers are working fine, parking lights flash when they're supposed to, and the starter kill is working. I haven't hooked up the shock sensor or glass break sensor, cause i'm trying to think of a good place to mount them. I haven't done the doorlock module because I'm still waiting for it to ship. What is the best place to mount the antenna? Behind the rearview pointing down? or should I put it at the bottom of the winshield pointing up? or on the rear glass of my truck? one more question - i haven't installed the shock sensor yet, but sometimes when i disarm, i get the "hammer" icon. what gives? ------------- ***Always happy to give misinformed advice***

Mike - Suggestion, Pull all relays out of Sat bank. Try remote start. Install one at a time, starting at acc, then I2, then I1, and then finally the starter. Keep trying until the fuse blows. That will tell you where your problem lies. It is either a bad relay, or you connected one of the relay outputs to the wrong wire.

could I be having problems because both red wires coming off of the relay bank are tied to the same place? one guy I talked to on the phone said this could likely be the problem. If so, what should i do? should I run all of the power wires to the battery? or what? also, I bought a very small siren (about 1 inch by 2.5 inces.) - where should i put it, and how do i link it with the regular siren. I was thinking about stuffing it down one of the heat vents. ------------- ***Always happy to give misinformed advice***

Running the two wires to the same source would nor cause you to blow a fuse, because those two wires are connected inside the brain anyway. That is how I install them on all cars that only have one power wire in the ignition harness, and I have never had any problems. Big_Bogus' idea sounds like a way to trouble shoot though

those two wires aren't connected in the brain, they're both running to the 4-relay satellite bank
