I am going to just add a resistor for a permanent bypass to my 96 Cavalier Passlock system.

In my book it shows 3 wires going to the 'passlock lock cylinder'

its shows MRD(+) is white, MRD(-) is black, MRD input is yellow

the white is 'battery', black goes to ground and one side of resistor, yellow is the other side of the resistor.

My problem is that all 3 of my wires from cyclinder to instrument cluster are black........except one of the wires has a white stripe. Would that be the white wire  (MRD(+))?

I was going to cut the other 2 and measure resistance to see if I am correct, just thought I might as well check with you guys first.

Thanks

The wires you need exit from the pass. side of the steering column.

ya. I guessed at it and it works. I did not add resistor, just cut the reference wire while the car was running and it all works now. Only thing is my theft light is on. will add a resistor one day to get rid of that.
