I installed a Mars-22 in an '05 Explorer. Everything was fine except the door locks. The wiring called for  pink/green for unlock, pink / YELLOW for unlock. These wire colors were not anywhere in the harness. I did not have access to check any other information source at the time, so looking at the information the wire colore for the door locks seem to match an '06 model. All of the other colors matched fine. Has anyone else seen this? I will get the car back later in the week.

Thanks,

Ed

Actually for the 06 my diagrams are showing gray / YELLOW for lock and gray/purple for unlock. For your 05 all my manuals show the pink / YELLOW and pink/light green low in drivers kick in the harness heading to rear of vehicle. Depending on how late in the year your vehicle was made you may have the 06 wires. I have found this with many fords lately.

I have seen this in a few myself. Ididn't get to check the build date on the car. I plan to look for the '06 wire colors when I get the car back. All of the ign., acc.& start wires were correct, but the key sense wire wasn't right either. I guess i'll find out soon enough.

I just did one on Thursday and the wires are located in the harness going to the rear of the vehicle on the driver's door sill. You will need to remove the hood release handle and take off the kick panel to reveal the wire loom where the unlock/lock wires are located.

All of the wiring information I have verifies that they are the correct wire colors. Unfortunately they are not in the harness in the kick panel. I plan th check the wires at the switch itself when the car comes back. I also check for the 2006 wire colors. I have seen stranger things before.

So, is it a 2005 or 2006? The build date means nothing. Go by the tenth digit of the VIN, or the sticker under the hood that says something like "this vehicle meets all emissions standars for 2005 model year vehicles." It's not worded exactly like that, but you get the idea.

In either case, the wires are definitely in one of the bundles going from the driver's kick panel, down the doorsill to the rear of the car. There are a couple of bundles, so make sure to check them both.

Velocity Motors, I've done dozens of the Explorer/Mountaineer, and I never thought to remove the hood release handle--good idea. I usually just flex the plastic kick panel and sneak it around the hood release, but your way is probably better.

According to the VIN#, the door sticker and the registration it is a 2005, but I have seen mid-year production changes that didn't match the model years. And yes, removing the one Torx screw to remove the panel is beter than bending it.

It's a simple torx screw to remove and pull the kick straight towards the back of the truck and it will release the spring steel clips. It's a bit more work, but easier to get at the required wires without having the kick panel in the way posted_image

Is there a problem not hooking up the keysense wire on this vehicle? I know some Fords will shutdown if it senses two keys at the same time. I'm just not sure if this is one of them.

I have never done keysense on the Explorers except for shutting down the bypass. As you are well aware, if you do not use the keysense to shut down the bypass module you can not remote start the vehicle with a key in the ignition as the two chips would conflict.

Then not hooking it up will not create a problem when the owner inserts the ign key when it is already running, correct? As for the orininal door lock issue, this vehicle seems to have the the ignition harness form the '05 and the door harness form the '06. When I called Ford and gave him the build date they said that it was close to the model year change and may have ended up with a combination of parts. Lucky me! Hope to finish tonite.

I finally finished this nightmare. None of the wire colors in the door matched. I removed the window switch to check the wiring, it was all patched together. Apparently this truck had a side impact and the bodyshop butcherd the wiring back together.
