Hello everyone, I want to start to say that this site is awesome....helped out alot in the past, but now here's my problem. I got a 1997 Cavalier and I have a aftermarket remote starter installed....pu tit in last year. But now I want the Rear Defrost to also come on when I remote start the car. How do I go about this? I already bought the relay but now I don't know what wire to connect where!! I thought it was gonna be a simple 2 wire behind the defrost switch...but it's not. It has like 7 wires coming out of a circuit board, how do I know what to connect where??? If anyone has done this to this car before...please help me out....

IF NOT.....here's what I think I can do...(unless the defrost needs a specific voltage power supply....or soemthing) I want to hook up pin 85 and 86 to my remote start(ignition and ground out when running)....find the wire going to the rear defrost...and cut it in half.....connect the rear half to pin 30....the front half to pin 87A.....then put any constant 12V power supply to pin 87......would this work??? should I fuse it somehow and where??? anyone?? please...hehe I really need help!!

Sorry about this long novel.....but I thought it would be well explained! Thanks alot to anyone willing to help! I'm kind of new with this electrical stuff!

What you describe will work just fine. Find the wire in the kickpanel and connect it there. I would fuse the power to the relay, but it will need a large fuse, like 20amps or so...

find a black wire in the drivers kick that triggers POS(+) when you turn on the defroster. Like you thought....use a relay.

I am trying to hook up the defrost to my remote start, and I thought that the defrost switch was just a 2 wire deal, But I guess not. It's also hooked up on a circuit board with the AC button and what not. Now I need to find out what each of the 6-7 wires are for behind that circuit board so I can figure out which one is for defrost. Anyone know? or anyone got a specified diagram!

Thanks alot everyone who helps out.

One more time......

If you find THIS wire and trigger it with a relay wired for (throwing) 12v output. Let mre know if you don't know how to wire the relay...K.
