Hello all,

Installing a viper 160xv into a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport trac. Car looks like cake.  However, Directed document #1093 asking me to diode isolate so i can be able to unlock the doors after the vehicle sits locked for a matter of time.  Looks like a simple diagram, however...... I cannot seem to find any of the wires.  I found lock/unlock wires.  What color is this door ajar wire???  How do I test for it?  and the factory alarm disarm wire says its dk.GREEN/ purple.  No such color found in the door harness.  Any short cuts, or solutions for me?????  Thanks!

does the truck have factory keyless?  If it does not ....then it may not be equiped with that system.  You can test for that system to see if it has the GEM shut down system by rolling the window down and waiting 3 to 5 minutes then trying to unlock the door from inside at the factory switch.  If it responds to hitting the unlock switch then disregard messing with #1093

Where theres is a wire there's a way.

it does.  i lock the door with the factory key fab. let it sit for a few min. reach inside, and unlock the door at the switch, and its dead. wont do a thing.

i have had to go to the acutal door boot to find it before....did you try that?  ALso the document #1093 tells you the color.   Also i guess you tested for factory alarm right?

I have not tried this so I do not know if it will work (or if there are any further issues that could be caused by this).   A friend at a local shop says that all they do is set their units for double pulse, and tie the FAD wire into the ribbon harness (diode isolated) to the pink wire that triggers the ignition relay on the xcrs (Pink in ribbon cable). This turns the ignition on when the FAD activates and 'wakes up' the system and unlocks on the second pulse. The truck I was working on did not have the sleep mode so I never did it, but I guess it would work.

good idea. I'll try that TWELVOLTZ.  I could be blind, but I do not see a wire color listed for the door ajar wire on the tech sheet, nor on document 1093.  I am going to try the Factory alarm disarm to the (-) pink on the ribbon harness.
