I am installing a Compustar 2W900FM to a 2001 GMC Sierra. There is currently a remote starter in the truck that I installed last year (Design Tech).

A few questions about the wiring:

1) Pin 5 (Blue) of CN1 is labeled 2nd starter, or 2nd accessory, or 2nd ignition. I assume this connects to trucks 2nd ignition (White). I then would need to adjust jumper.

2) CN1 has a 40 amp relay attached to it. The relay connects to the yellow start wire of CN1 and the red wire from green+red of CN1. The relay has a yellow wire and a yellow/black wire which I assume interrupts the vehicle start wire (yellow) for anti-grind. There is also a purple pigtail with a female connector on the end, which I am unsure where to connect.

The notes for CN2 Pin 2 (RED / black) says:

"This wire is a (-) 2nd starter 200mA output. Normally the only vehicle this would be used on Nissan's and older Ford's. You MAY connect this wire to the purple pigtail of the additional relay on CN#1. This will result in a (+) trigger output for the 2nd starter on the blue wire of the same relay".

There is no blue wire on this relay, but I suspect they mean the blue wire on CN1 Pin 5 (ignition 2).

Anyone know?

Also, CN2 Pin 3 (Violet) has a mating male connector that would plug right into the purple pigtail on the relay and is labled as:

"This wire is the (-) Negative when armed out. It will provide a (-) output anytime the unit is armed or remote started. This wire is pre-wired into the starter-kill. This wire could be used for adding a window roll-up."

It seems like this wire (Pin 3) should be connected to the purple pigtail instead of Pin 2 since it has a mating connector.

Anyone know?

The 4300 V6 engine still uses a single coil on the top of the engine, tach wire is WHITE. On the V8 engines, there is a coil for each cylinder, each with a 4 pin plug. Each plug contains a BLACK, BROWN & PINK, as well as a 4th wire which changes color on each coil. This 4th wire can be used as your tach reference, set your remote starter for a 1 cylinder signal. You can also use a WHITE at pin-10 of the 80-pin connector on the PCM at the left front of the engine compartment for a 8 cylinder signal.

I have done hundreds of Compustar units in the past and was curious as to the harness and fusing that your referring to. I've never seen a Compustar unit fused at 40 amps before and also what is the model CPU that you have ? From what your describing from above, it should be a CM4200 and this is a remote start only system with the 2 way upgrade antenna and remote controls.

The unit is a CM4200A with 2 way remote.  Pin 1 and 3 of CN1 are fused at 30 amps for the constant 12V.  The 40 amps is what is stamped on top of the relay which is attached to the red of the green+red Pin (8 I think, unit is not in front of me currently) and the yellow starter wire.  The relay has a purple pigtail which is what I am questioning.  I don't know if I should use CN2 Pin 2 which the notes say MAY be connected to it, or Pin 3 which has a mating connector to the pigtail.  Or neither.  The wiring diagram does not show the relay or the pigtail.
