I understand that in order to use a remote start on a manual transmission, a safety sequence must be entered to arm the car. For those of you who are installers, after the car has shut off and is armed, is there anyway to open the doors of the vehicle without disarming the remote start?

For example, my car is armed but I remember I have to grab something out of it. Is there anyway I can open the door and grab my item without having to start the car and go through the sequence again to re-arm it? Thanks!

I don't believe there is with compustar or ultra's. I have heard that there is model that can be remotely put in reservation mode, I have not seen it though and I would not install it. What if you bump the gear shift into gear when your grabbing your cellephone, bag etc....Get my point?

You will NEED to start the car, then unlock to keep the rig "ready to remote start" There is no way around it IF it's installed correctly.

BE SAFE.....

if you activate the turbotimer and leave the car and close the door, you will need to arm it manually.  can you still use remote start(for compustar) or it eliminates the reservation mode-hence no remote start

hmmm....  when I was in high school back in 1993, a friend and I put a remote start on his Ford Ranger, we would put it in first gear with the parking brake on and remote start it from the steps in front of school.... it would just lurch forward and not start because of the break... it would confuse the crap out of our school mates......   all I remember doing was using a bunch of relays to bypass the clutch safety switch...... those were the days when I was really into upgrading cars.....  we had the Sega Genisis cd in that truck with a huge LCD tv above the rearview mirror too.....  good times.....

Bypassing the safety stuff is easy. When you accidently leave it in gear, and it starts and hits something try coming up with a story for the police and your insurance company. Not so easy!

As KarTuneMan says......

Remote Start the vehicle

Disarm- unlock the vehicle

Get what ever it is you want then close the doors

Arm - lock the vehicle

Shut down the remote start.

This is what i do with my Clifford Intellistart 4. Its alot better than having to go through the procedure again.

Gav.
