Alright, I have a 04 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad cab, I am installing a Python 1600xp remote start. The problem is that I can't get the door locks to work right. I know it is a single wire system. I also have the DEI 451m. I just can't get the dang thing to work....   So I ask all you install geniuses what it is that I am doing wrong or any ideas about what I can do. I have hooked the 451 as follows, Green to an 800 ohm resistor, Blue to a 340 ohm resistor. Nothing... Any help would be much appriciated.

Does the rig have factory security? If it does, lock is thru 1800ohms, and unlock is thru 450ohms. double pulse to unlock. First pulse disarm, second pulse unlock....try this.    Oh ya, it's a PURPLE / blue...same spot as the other wire.

No, just the factory remote keyless entry. And all the info that I have says it is a PURPLE / green wire with a neg trigger.

I am wondering if I have to cut the wire in order to get it to work. Hope thats not the case... Has a nice little function that I don't want to lose.

Did you look for the PURPLE / blue yet?  NO, you don't cut the wire....just tag on to it.

Will do that now.

O.k., I only have a PURPLE / Light blue wire as far as that goes, and there is a constant 5v on it. The PURPLE / green wire has 4.8V resting, 3.1V when locked, and 1.9V when unlocked.

the violet from the 451m needs to go to ground too if it's not already

must go to ground. the violet is has to be connected to whatever the desired output for the blue and green is. in your case the violet needs to be grounded.

O.k., the unlock portion works through a 2.7k ohm resistor. Can't get the unlock to work though.

you can TEST the resistances on the wires to find the ACTUAL value you need....heres how. Cut the lock/unlock wire...connect one lead from you DMM to ground and the other to the SWITCH side of the lock/unlock wire. Set your DMM to read resistance (ohms) and then lock/unlock the door and read your meter...VOILA exact value right

O.k., here goes the update. I took a little of both of yall's advice, and here's what happened. On the PURPLE / light blue wire, I can lock through a 2.7k resistor. Then, on the PURPLE / green wire I can unlock through a 330 resistor... Confused? I think I am, but it works. And I have yall to thank. Thanks.

Don't suppose anyone would know what the ohm value is for the parking light. I have a 330 ohm resistor in there now, but it is makeing the headlights flash as well. Kinda annoying when it is on remote start.

You'll have to cut the parking light wire in half and tie in the relay like so.  85 to the parking light output of the r/s. 86 to ground 87 to one side of the resistor then ground the other side.  87a goes to the switch side of the parking light wire.  30 goes to the other side of the parking light wire.

if you have a positive output for park light from the remote start , you can hooked to the WHITE/ grey wire by the 60way connector.
