finding tachometer wire, 97 jeep gc ltd

alright guys, i just signed up for the forums.. mainly to hopefully get an answer to this question..

the wiring guide for this jeep says the tachometer wire is gray/white, located by the pcm, which is found high on the passanger firewall..

i found just under the tank holding the windsheild washer fuild two wires running together.. one is white and blue.. and the other looks all white.. these are the only two wires i can really see.. all the others going into a pcm harness are covered in elec tape..

anyone have any tips? or where to find it.. etc?

Open up the tape. You'll find it.

okay, then comes the question.. there is three different harnesses going into the pcm.. both with many many wires..

set up kindof like this

each of those three being where the harness connects too.. which one would it be in or is it a cut and look thing?

Trim back the electrical tape on the harness, be careful not to nick any of the wires, sort through all the wires until you find the gray/white wire. If there is more than one, you will need to test the wire with a multimeter set on the A/C current setting. Open the wire but do not cut it in half, place your red lead on the wire and the black lead to ground. Start the engine and the voltage should increase with the throttle. If it does this, than that is your wire. This same wire can be found at the ignition coil on the engine too, you might have better luck there.

thanks bud, that helps a lot.. did all the other wires by the key fine.. but under the hood i dont want to mess with anything i dont know too much about.
