Hi... i've have a question if there's any electrical experts out there.. i do have some sort of knowledge in wiring but just wanted to make sure..

I just got myself an Autopage RF860LCD alarm/remote start and i'm about to install in sometime in the next few days...

This module has 3 programmable outputs where it provides 200mA ground for user specified time whenever that button is pressed... I'm trying to use this function to open and close windows.. my car has reverse polarity positive windows...

what i'm thinking now is that 200mA is not enought to run the window motor therefore by using a relay, and connecting 12V source and programmable ground and have it trigger the window motor circuit would it work? what if i connect both front window motor to one relay?
i could not find power window motor circuit diagram anywhere so i'm very vague on how i would go about doing this...

if anyone has ideas and wiring info for this i would really appreciate it..

oh yeah one more question... if will the power window motor burn/damage if it is still left running for couple of seconds after it is completely closed or opened?

I have also looked into power window control module but i do not have the time to but and wait for the product to be shipped and also if it can be done the way i mentioned above it only costs less than 5 bucks...

thank you guys!! please help

Yes the window motors can be ruined if they are still getting power for a couple seconds after opening or closing.  Save yourself a lot of heartache and money and get a window controller.   What kind of car are you talking about anyway.

does the window controller shut off automatically whenever the windows are closed or opened? how do they know it is closed or opened?

I'm installing this on 2001 Nissan Xterra

Aftermarket window modules provide current monitoring of the motor to detect when it has reached its end of travel.  Not including a current monitoring system is a big mistake, and can lead to serious injurys to kids and pets.

01 Nissan Xterra XE V6

Hi guys.. i'm still in the middle of instaling the alarm system and i can't figure out how to wire the door pin trigger..
does anyone know how i should wire this? i can't find a wiring diagram for the SECU so it's really hard for me to figure out which one does what..
it seems like gr/red, gr/black and RED / black wires are the door trigger wires since they change voltage depending on the door pins.. i tried to connect them to the alarm using diodes to isolate them but what happens now is that my dome light comes on and does not go off even when all the doors are shut...

is there a single wire that can be used or do i have to do something with those three wires?

if anyone has wiring diagrams i would really appreciate it.. thanks..

oh yeah one more thing... i'm getting confused on 2nd ignition wire and accessory wire.. some has RED / yellow wire as 2nd ignition and some has it has accessory... does anyone know which ones right?

On some cars you can go directly to the dome light. Just take it down and find the trigger.

I've checked the Pin-9 on Smart Entrance module and it is a solid black wire..  is this the one? how would you check for it?

Okay my xterra has power locks on it... so i've been looking around and heard that i gotta use three wires on SECU and diode isolate them..

i've diode isolated them and connected them as given in a diagram.. but the dome light does not turn off when the door pins are all grounded.. and also it does not turn off when i turn off the switch on the light itself... any ideas? this is driving me crazy...

does anyone know where those GREEN/ red, GREEN/ black and RED / black wires are located on the SECU? i found about 5 GREEN/ red wires 3 GREEN/ black wires and 2 RED / black wires on the SECU harness..  the harness doesn't even have numbers on them to identify each wire.. if anyone has a diagram or info about this i would really appreciate it.. otherwise i've gotta test all those wires tomorrow morning... it would save me  alot of trouble.. thank you so much in advance..

All of these wires are in the WHITE plug on the unit.

How do you guys check  wires? iwhat i've been doing is cutting the wires and using a volt meter... is there are way without cutting the wires? If i miss couple of wires it becomes a pain to crimp them back again.. and it doesn't look very clean too if i keep cutting and crimping wires.

just strip the insulation on the wire andthen test it. Dont cut it.

Bed of Nails

Scroll down to LB55B...get one of these sets, and then add the correct end to plug into your meter. I usually buy a cheap set of meter leads from Sears to get the wires with the end that will plug into my Fluke meter. A little cutting here....a little soldering there...and you are all set.

I use an automatic stripper works real slick most of the time.. wire wrap and solder and insulate.. The bed of nails is an awsome little device for probeing. or just go to the connector if you can get at it...

I use an automatic stripper also.  If the plug is near by, the best thing to do is stick your meter in the plug so ur not cutting ne thing.  but if its just a bunch of wires, just strip some sleeve and test..  I keep hearing about these bed  of nails, but im not sure whichi ones would work on my meter..  I have a meterman top model..

HEy guys.. i finally finished installing Autopage RF860LCD on my xterra... but i'm having a remote start problem..

when i remote start the car, it would crank but won't start as if fuel pump is not working... but if i start the car with the key it starts just fine...

i'm thinking somehow the remote start is not engaging the fuel pump... does anyone know which wire on the ignition harness activates the fuel pump?

Here's my ignition harness setup right now

12V + - Green

Starter - BLACK / YELLOW

Starter 2 - GREEN/ YELLOW

Ignition - BLACK/ White

Accessory - RED / Yellow

WHITE/ Blue wire not used for remote start

if anyone has any idea about this i would really appreciate it... i'm almost done!! wish me luck!

Did you test the WHITE/ Blue wire and see if it might be another ignition wire?

There's only one ignition wire on the xterra. Check output with your DVM during crank on the BLACK/ white....

Hymer.. i don't think those wires are right.... those colors doesn't exist on the ignition harness...

I tested for WHITE/ blue and RED / yellow wire and they both are accessories, they show 12v on On position 0v while cranking and 12v once engine started.

i've yet to test the wires for proper signal during remote start... it's raining out and can't do nothing right now.. sighz..  thanks for your help guys... but if there's anyone still out there with proper wire color info please let me know.. thanks...

I've realized a lot of the wiring info given were somewhat wrong... after this project is done i will post proper wiring info for 01 xterra.. you don't realize how important little details are until you've gone under the dash and can't find the wires that was listed for you... hehe..

How did you wire for the second starter?

-------------

Posted By: hmin7186

Okay.. i have figured it out... silly mistake by me... i didn't connect the 2nd starter wire since the alarm had only one starter output... so i connected 1st and 2nd wire to the starter ouput from the remote start module and now it works fine!! hehe thank you guys for all your input..

oh yeah one more thing.. whenever i start with a remote start and then i put my key in the ignition and turn it to ON position there's a little ping noise coming from somewhere around the starter... it doesn't grind but a short ping noise... any ideas?

That was a common problem with the Xterra. You need to fix it, what you hear is the starter engaging for a split second. It's gonna tear up the bendix after a while. The repair needs a relay, and the object is to disengage the starter wire when ever the RS is activated. Wire the relay like this...

85   12volts

86    negative output when remote started

30    starter wire, keyswitch side

87a  starter wire starter side

cut the starter wire to do this, like adding a starter kill on an alarm. The RS starter wire should be on the 87a side...

Thank you so much for the info.. i really needed this...

I have one question... On the 86 pin i need to use a negative output that will go away while cranking right? so that the starter wires are engaged while cranking then disengaged once started...

I have a accessory 2 wire on the alarm system that provides negative output when remote started, go away while cranking and then comes back on... will this wire work for the 86 Pin? thank you...

Why does xterras have this problem? what is making the starter engage for a split second?
