I have a few questions regard both these units about installing them in my truck.
1. Which method do i use for the 556 to install in my explorer? The booklet show 3 different ways and 2 of the require me cutting the wires of the ring, and i dont want to do that if not nessaccary.
2. I installed the ring of the 556 module around the cylinder for the key but it does not do anything. Yes key is installed and No i did not touch the jumper inside.
3. In order to test to see if the remote start work, i know i can temporarly bypass the 556 by inserting the key in the ignition. I try to use the remote start and the car will crank and turn on for a quick second, and then shuts right off. the car cranks, but does not stay on. Why is this so.
4. The 791 booklet for installation says in the trouble shooting section, that if the car has an immobilizer to diable it, how do i disable the immobilizer, just by unlocking the car with the factory remote?
thank you for your help in advance
Did the tachometer program successfully? With the 556U disconnected, if your remote start is not operating with a key in the ignition in the off position you need to fix that before moving on. Check to make sure you have all required connections getting the proper voltage in the correct sequence.
As far as the 556U is concerned, I have done several of these vehicles with the U and never had a problem. You do not have to cut the ring just put it around the cylinder and you should be good to go.
okay from i have noticed on the start side of the wire that goes to the purple wire on the 791xv it says that i should have voltage their, but i dont. How do i go about fixing that. I followed the other procedure in t he troubleshooting section on the manual, and i have all the correct voltages and all the wires are connected where they should be. I just dont get it.
How can you not have 12volts on the purple wire if it cranks? IF you remote start the truck and IF the motor turns over(even for a second) you have voltage on the purple wire. lets go thru the Q's...
1. install the ring tightly around the key cylinder, connect black to ground, red to 12volts, and blue to the blue statis wire on the Viper. That's it....
2. How do you know it does nothing? When you try to RS the truck, does the factory theft light go out or flash? If it goes out you have it installed correctly.
3. If the factory theft light goes out when you RS the truck, putting the key in the igntion will make it see two keys and not start(the theft light will flash).
4. They mean disable it by using a bypass, like you are doing using the 556U.
Try it again without the key in the igntion and tell us what the theft light does....
