hey,
I have a 98 2.5 Millenia, and I'm installing the DEI Valet 551t remote start module to work with the factory alarm. I wanted to make it so that 2 lock pulses start the car. I then realized that upon hitting lock a second time, the horn honks to confirm the doors are locked. I then found out that if remote starting the car with the factory alarm armed, the factory starter cut becomes active, and the alarm sounds. After all this, I figured that the best way of installing this was to hit lock, unlock, and then lock again, since the factory starter cut is disabled until the security light turns off and starts blinking. I connected a relay to the "METER" fuse, so that when the remote start was active, I could still use the factory transmitter. The car started fine and I thought everything was ok, and i was done. Then 30 seconds later, the car automatically locked itself, and then turned off. I thought that maybe it was because of the relay, and that the car couldnt sense that it was started, so i got rid of the relay, and still had the problem. 30 seconds went by and it shut itself off again! I know on most cars, the doors lock automatically if u unlock, and dont open a door... but lock 30 seconds after it's been locked already too?! what's up with that?! what can i do to make this work? please get back to me... i REALLY appreciate this A LOT.
Thanks,
John
Ps. I did notice that if i remote start the car, and then put the key to the on position, the alarm disarms, but the doors don't unlock... I know this because I have a DEI Automate factory-addon alarm installed. I put the key to the ON position, and the siren chirps twice, and lights blink twice, but the doors stay locked. I don't understand this because the disarm wire is connected to the unlock wire on the factory alarm... I also have a disarm defeat wire connected so that the alarm can't be disabled by opening the car with a key, or using the buttons on the driver's door. Thanks again.
Is the add-on alarm set up for passive arming? If so, is it set up so that it can re-lock the doors all by itself? If this is the case, turn the passive arming off.... or at least set it up as passive arm, but active locks.
nope, my addon alarm doesn't control anything.... i turned the passive arming off a while ago, and never connected the wire on the module that would lock the doors...
