Anyone have any experience with poor range associated with mouting an antenna for a Viper 791Vx antenna next to a SMART TAG ?

The SMART TAG is moumted high in the center of the windshield essentially so that the mirror rear view mirror obscures it when driving. The antenna is located immediately above the SMART TAG.Its not ideal but thats the location the owner wants. The SMART TAG is passive until excited by the transponder at the Toll Plaza so I am assuming its unlikely. It just seems that in a straight line test, I get a little more range with the SMART TAG not on the windshield.
