I installed a remote starter in my 2005 Acura TSX. It is a Omega RS4-LX. I also installed an Omega keyless entry (REC-11?). I had to install an immobilizer bypass (programmable). I was using the Tach Sensor function. Everything has been working perfectly since October. On Monday, the car didn't catch on the first crank, but started on the second attempt. I had a similar problem in my Lancer, after I hooked up the tach wire and programmed it it has been fine. So, I hooked up the tach wire and programmed it. It started fine several times and the light on the starter illuminated properly. Tuesday there was no problem. This morning, the car cranked for 8 seconds (which is preset) then stopped, it started on the second crank. Anyone heard of this?

cars will crank different when cold. check the voltage on your battery in the morning before you try to start it.
If the car cranked for 8 seconds and didn't turn over it must not be reading the immobilizer correctly. That's the only possible way that car could crank that long without starting unless the ignition wire itself isn't getting power. Try repositioning the ring around the ign cylinder or get a bypass that taps into the data wires.

definately agree w/ NowYaKnow. On that new of a car you shouldn never need 8 seconds of crank. My 92 Accord starts within 2 seconds in 5 degree weather. Definately would say it is a bypass module issue.

You know, the starter may just not crank it fast enough to get a tach signal above the threshold you set when you 'taught' the alarm control unit.
I had the reverse problem initally. I set the tach learning mode with the idle around 1000 rpm and when my truck is really warm, it idles around 600 rpm. When really warm, starter would spin and truck start and never get above 1000 rpm so alarm did not know truck was running so would continue to try to start ... ouch !
In your case, when cold, with the reduced voltage on the battery and cold oil in the engine, (and tranny if auto) , you may never hit the rpms that your alarm learned. Obviously, for most effecient operation, tach learning mode mode needs to be at the lowest sustainable idle.
