On directechs it says i need a 556lw, but heres the kicker the car has no power door locks, it is a very very basic truck. The key that was given to me does not have the chip on the middle of the key, it is just a flat normal looking key. So what im wondering is do i even need the 556lw module ? It doesnt seem to have an immobilizer, because like i said this is a very basic truck. Is it e ven possible to come out of the factory without an immobilizer ?

You have passlock II you can use 555LW which requires cutting the passlock wire or you can use GMBP from bypassits.com which does the bypass work through the ODBII data wire. There is no need for the 556LW

Every Silverado from 1998 to 2006 has Passlock II. Even the ones without power locks. VATS has the resistor in the key. Passlock II has the resistor in the key cylinder. You need a 556L or a 555L. A GMBP will also work.
