Hey guys. Im installing a Prestiege APS997 Alarm/Starter in my 2001 Hyundai Tiburon. I got a few questions, I never installed this advanced of an alarm before. I think I got the alarm part to work, but I cant get the remote start to work. Ive got all the starter wires hooked up properly, but when I try to start the vehicle, it says "inhibit" on the screen. What does that mean? Now I know it came with this inhibit relay, but I wasnt sure oif that was optional. Im trying to figure out how to get this alarm to start the vehicle properly. I installed a Pro Start in the vehicle last year, no problems, and used all the same wires I did on that setup, so I dont see why it wont start now. Anyone got any ideas. It be great. Dont know why, there isnt a trouble shooting in the 2 manuals that are over 25 pages.

Thanks.....

check the position that the valet switch is in, and make sure the neutral safety wire is hooked up or grounded. That's your problem.

There is no neutral safety wire on the APS-997, and the valet switch is not related to the remote start.

--The control switch must be plugged in and in the on position.

--The brake wire must not see positive power.

--The hoodpin wire must not see ground.

--The tach rate must be programmed. If you prefer to use voltage sensing instead of tach, you must program the unit for voltage sense.

What Neutral Safty wire? The alarm has one? Do I need to hook up the Alternate Ignition Harness & The Starter Inhibit Realy, or are they both optional? Like I figured alot of the extra harnesses were optional.

What is the control Switch? I am unsure if the brake wire is + or -. I know the hoodpin is fine. And how do you program the tach or get it on Voltage Sense mode?

Thanks for the help.

Sorry, the hoodpin. I only have the orange wire hooked up to it, i noticed in the diagram it shows 2 wires, one goes to the negative shut down? Where is the negative shutdown wire?

The control switch is in a plastic bag with the pin switch and diode piece. Simply cut of the switch, butt connect the two wires together and plug it into the red two pin plug on the side.

I recently installed a Presteige Alarm in my girlfreinds tiburon. I was wondering if anyone has access to the wiring diagrams for a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon. I accessed the ones that are on this website, but dont have what Im looking for. I want to know what color wires & what plug there located on, for the lights on the dash, one is the door trigger wire which lights up the red sumbol on the dash, and the other is the wire for the rear hatch that lights up yellow. If anyone knows the color of these 2 wires that be great.

Thanks guys.

What are you trying to do?

Im want to use them for the trigger in puts. I had trouble locating the wire under the dash, so I found the wire running underneath the door sill and connected there. But its only the drivers side door. The listed wiring diagram for this car, has a couple incorrect descritions. Even the Parking light wire,  is listed as GREEN / WHITE on the gray harness, i tried it and its a dead lead, has nothing to even do with the parking lights. If anyone knows the correct location and color of the parkin light wire, that be great to.

I want to know, so I can have my trigger for the doors on that wire, and use the open rear hatch light as my rear trigger instead of installing an aftermarket trigger.

Hey guys. I posted a little while ago about the install I did on the 01 tiburon. Okay, so I got the alarm in, its been working fine, then all of a sudden today we armed it, when inside the house, it started goin off. I turned the vibration down to the lowest. And it went off 10 minutes later. So I have the vibration sensor unplugged for now. The pager is flashing the hammer symbol, even with the alarm armed & the sensor unplugged. anyone know what could be the cause?

try unplugging the harness with the main power on it for a minute and then plug it back in.

The audiovox systems have a really sensitive shock, you might have to move it.

Hey. Im installing a presteige alarm and im having trouble understanding how to work the hood trigger wire. I attahced 2 images out of the manual. Theres 2 ways to hook up the trigger as fas I can tell. I have it hooked up the 1st way, but only using the alarm instant trigger wire from the alarm module, i cant figure out where or what the negative shut down wire is? Can someone help?

So just replace the dark green wire i have running to the trigger now with the gray/black wire? No need to run a 2nd wire to the trigger? Or hook the grey/black wire to the trigger aswell?

Hey everyone, I hate to keep comin on here & asking you guys for advice. Last time hopefully. I got just about 99% of everything working properly, thanks for all the help so far. But now, I finally got the door trigger wire hooked up, the proper one. Well I tried to atleast. Its a (-) trigger. I have it hooked up to the correct wire with the (-) wire from the module. And when I go to arm the alarm, with the door closed, its telling me the door is open and wont arm? Anyone got any suggestions? I cant figure it out.

If you have a delayed dome light in the car(one that stays on for a period of time after the last door is closed) what will happen is it will chirp 3 times when you arm it, then chirp once after the light goes out. If this is what is happening you will need to program the delay. You do this by simply pressing arm/disarm/arm/disarm/arm/disarm while the door is open. The LED will light solid(no flashing), then shut the door and wait. Once the light goes out it will usually chirp once to let you know it programmed(but not always). Open and close the door and try arming it. You should now get one chirp.

Nope that aint it, the car doest have a delayed dome light. When I arm it, it does show that the door is open. I currently have it hooked up directly to the trigger on the driver side door only and it works fine. But I would like it on both doors without having to run a 2nd wire to the passenger door trigger.

Is it possible it is a (+) connection, even tho it is saying its a (-) according to the wiring diagram I have. Which is telling me

Door TriggerGREEN / WHITENegative (-)white 20 pin plug, pin 12

I hook it up to that with the Brown wire from the module which is Door Trigger ( - ). And thats my problem?

Nope, that's the wire and it is a negative and yes you have it hooked up to the right wire. First, are you sure that is what is giving you the open trigger? if you disconnect the brown wire it arms correctly? If so, dunno. Run a wire to the oassenger door and diode isolate the two doors to the brown wire...
