Will a BOA 265B remote starter work on a 1996 jeep grand cherokee laredo? It's not listed on the site and when i installed it, it didn't program.

It will work fine. You would need to either go into the doors for door locks or get a data interface module, but the RS portion should work without issue.

ok, because my buddy hooked it all up yesterday and it wasnt working for us. We would start it, let it run for 30 seconds and then hold the program button. and then we tried turning the key on for 5 seconds and then holdin program..and it wasnt programming.

I just read the manual for your system and the only programming option I found was for tachometer programming. If you are saying you can not program the tachometer rate, are you absolutely sure you are on the correct wire? The Boa will try 2 attempts to start by tachometer reference, if it does not successfully start after 2 tries it will try a third time using voltage sensing. If it is not starting successfully on any of these attempts, I would have to think that you need to take a look at your installation.

Hey I got the Boa 265B too! we hooked it up on my dadsa 96 toyota corolla. We had to do the tach sensor because it wouldnt start. Now it starts, but it shuts off after 10 seconds for some reason. It attempts it 3 times and gives up.
If you drive the car for awhile and park, then try it, it will stay started most of the time.
Any ideas? It sucks because the weathers cold! Its like 5degress today and suppose to go to 6 below tonight!

adding to my post above...i just tried it and actually it starts and runs and shuts off in about 10 seconds, and doesnt retry at all. its like its starting then shutting right off on its own? Any ideas?

This sounds like the system does not know the car is running. Did you verify that you have the correct tachometer wire? How did you test it? What voltage range did you get when you tested it?

My friend did it for me and he used a diagram we found online...he didnt do a voltage test...I need to check into it so i know what to look for, and what to find for the range then.
Its odd because at first it would attempt to start 3 times, now it just starts and runs for the 10 seconds then shuts off and doesnt retry...

Simply disconnecting the tachometer wire may resolve your issue. But is not the recommended installation method.
Reading through the manual shows that if it sees a valid tachometer source for more than 30 seconds it will use it, if it does not see a valid tachometer source it will switch to voltage sensing. It is possible the wire you are connected to drops out after 10 seconds, or the range of the voltage on the wire changes too drastically and the Boa is thinking it is over revving causing your shutdown.

x13afi---------The answer to your original question is in the manual which is available on the download portion of this site. To program the remote, disconnect the power to the unit (battery disconnect works), reconnect the power --do not start the engine -- turn the ignition to the run position and hold the program button on the remote until the lights flash or horn honks. That has to be done on the first ignition on sequence after the power is restored or you have to disconnect the power again to ty again.
