I'm installing an Avital Avistart 4300 into a 2000 Chevy Silverado and for some reason I can't get the power locks to function with the Avistart. I don't get a positive pulse on either wire when I activate the locks via the remote. I've used both an analog and digital multimeter. I get a low amount of voltage at all times on the lock wire. I am aware that on this vehicle that the alarm lock/unlock wires need to be directly connected to the vehicle lock/unlock wires, and not the dei interface through the databus system. Any ideas? I have the identical system in my 2002 Envoy, but haven't torn the dash open to test the output on that unit, I figured I was better off posting here.

the lock/unlock wires on your remote start are probably negative trigger. the doorlocks on your truck are positive trigger. basically, it means that your truck needs to see a positive pulse to lock or unlock the door. you need two relays.... relay 1 85-(-) unlock from alarm 86- 12v constant 30- 12v constant 87a- N/A 87- conect to vehicle unlock wire wire the 2nd relay up identicle but just do it for lock.

are you sure that you have the correct lock/ulock wires?? I have put that same alarm/RS on that identical car. 2 or 4 door?? if it is a 2 door, they are positive trigger, if 4 door, its a 5 wire. you are metering the Lt. blue and white wire at either door correct??

They are positive trigger, blue and white, I know that much. I am running the meter on the leads from the alarm unit. I had them hooked up correctly, and got nothing when I pushed the lock or unlock on the remote. Shouldn't I get a +12v pulse on one or the other when locks are activated?

If I remember correctly that is one of the units DEI made with only (-) door lock outputs. There is a typo in the manual that lists them as (-) and (+) that was never fixed.
You need to either use a polarity inverter to switch the (-) pulse from the remote start to a (+) or relays.

Thanks! That really clears things up.
