Installing a Pro-start CT3400 and pkf3 into 04 freestar. Everything went as expected until go time. THe unit started fine, ran for roughly 20 seconds, shut down and re-started. Did this 3 times and then the RS shut down. It's not a security bypass thing because it does same thing with the key in the ignition. Am I missing something with the parklight circuit? Am I missing something with the arm/disarm? I totally baffled.

Did you use tachometer monitoring or voltage sensing? This sounds like your system does not know the car is running.

Used a tach monitor. The RS realizes that the car is running or it wouldn't drop the starter out. I'm wondering if the module is NFG. Wouldn't be the first time a Pro Start module was bad.

Try it tachless and see if it's any different? What did you try in troubleshooting?

prostart doesn't have a tachless option unfortunatly. where'd you get the tach signal from?

Prostart just came out with there new modules. The ones with rs232 port. Little late if you ask me but the only thing i can tell you is that some of the older prostart modules have a "Tach Threshold" dip switch. You HAVE TO change it to HIGH instead of normal. If you dont then the car will die. I did one on a cav, same thing happening except mine died right away. Try to get your tach off an ignition module or coil not a fuel inj. Hope this helps.

I switched out the module today and nothing changed. I have taken the tach signal from the cam sensor. I see a problem that when the vehicle starts tach is at +/- 1100 and then after 15 sec it drops to around 780. That is when the car shuts off. I tried setting the tach at the 780 point. It took but still died at that point. I'm beginning to think it maybe a arm/disarm problem or something that I'm missing. This is the first Freestar that I've done. I tried changing the tach threshold to high with no change. It's only my sister's vehicle so not that big a deal but I'd rather not be wasting "free" time on it.

If it dies at that point the signal may be too low for the unit your using. Try going off an injector rather than the cam sensor and see what happens.
