Hi all. Tried starting the car with the remote and all I get are three double beeps and it looks like the remote signal light comes on. Seems like its transmitting but not receiving the signal. The cars battery reads just over 14 volts (running) and starts nicely with the key. Any help would be appreciated.

did you use use something to bypass the transponder?

did you power up the 2nd ignition?

I had the unit installed and there is no tach.

Don't know how to bypass the transponder.

2nd ignition???

Yesterday morning I used the remote and it showed the puff of smoke, but it wasn't running. About ten minutes later I tried to start it again and that's when it starting beeping and not working at all. I changed the remotes battery, but it didn't seem to help.

when you try to start it, does the car start and then shut off right away or does it just not start at all?

You've gotta bypass the transponder before it'll run. I think you need a 555C Chrysler Sentry Key Bypass. You should be able to get one either off the internet or where ever you bought the remote starter.

The car doesn't start at all. Head lights dont flash. The doors wont lock or unlock. I've had the unit for just over a year now and this is the first time its acted up. Actually the remote make the same noise/beeping as if I was out of range. Even though I've tried to remote start it from inside the car, as well as just outside the car.

So has it worked before? If it used to work and now it doesn't it's probably a problem with the control module. Or the antenna. It might not be receiving a signal from the remote. Did you go in and double check all the wires? One of them might have come loose or something.

Has been working fine for over a year. Checked the connections and they all look okay. Noticed that a red light will flash on the module (usually when bumped) I will agree that its not receiving a signal. Maybe its too cold outside. We are in somewhat of a deep freeze. I'll have to take it in to the shop. Thanks for all the help.

No problem. It probably is the cold. I put a remote starter in my mom's car a while ago and it has trouble in the winter.

the viper 791 has 3 wires with 12v input. two reds and one RED / white. check the fuses on all of them

i'm willing to bet it's the remote. most 791 remotes i've only seen last about a year. longest was an elderly lady whose remote lasted 2 years, but most only 1 year
