I had a Astro Start model 803 remote starter installed in my 1998 gmc Sierra truck. It worked fine for the 1st couple days then the check engine light came on. I had the codes read and they were all related to the transmission. So I quit starting the truck with the remote and only use the key, the check engine light went out after a few starts with the key. So just for kicks, I tried starting it with the remote again and the truck does start but the check engine light comes on instantly, did not drive it at all.  Went back to starting it with the key and after a few key starts the check engine light goes out again. Any ideas as to what might be my problem??? Thanks in advance!!!

get that 2nd ignition checked if you want to continue using yur remote start since not only does the check engine light come on, you will develop transmission trouble!!

wimpwimp got it rightright

Vehicle Notes

PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is equipped with GM's new PASSLOCK II system, a fuel cutoff system that you must bypass for remote start. See Diagram. The truck's 2nd ignition wire must be connected or the check engine light will come on and serious transmission damage may result
