Hi all,
I recently installed a AM5 automate alarm in my 1998 toyota tacoma. I also installed lock selonoids in the doors. I had to install a 451m relay pack to operate the door locks. Everything is working great. I am trying to add a switch to my lock system so I can operate the locks without having to reach over and and pull up on my lock knob. The only switch that I have found that will fit in one of the knockout plugs in my dash is a 5 prong power window switch from spal. It does not light up as I do not need this feature anyway. Can someone please explain to me how I need to hook this switch up to my locks. I know I need to use the green and blue wires on the 451m, these are my lock and unlock wires. I just don't know how to hook up the other wires that are needed. I know I don't have to hook up to all five prongs on the new switch I am installing. any help would be appreaciated Thanks JOhn

it all depends on how the switch is set up. Couldnt tell you without a part number for the switch, or a diagram for the switch.

Spal makes a lot of switches, but the only one i can think of with only 5 prongs is an inline switch. If there are 5 prongs all lined up from top to bottom, you need to give the center prong a ground and the top and bottom prongs will be for your green and blue(depending on which way you mount the switch). ------------- Mike M2

You just need a 2 terminal switch. Connect one terminal to ground, and the other to the thin blue wire feeding the 451M. That will give you an unlock switch. Do the same for the green wire for lock.

The switch that I am using is a Spal 1740007. It is a 5 Contact Non-Illuminated Switch. The pdf file attached to the picture on SPALUSA.com. If you look under power window kits, then select switches it is the first one. It has a wire digram that says the center contact is +12v, the 2 contacts on either side of the center contact just have a negative sign on them. It does not say what the other 2 contacts are for. THanks for the help
