During my larm planning I saw the Wiring diagram and had a few quiestions. https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/detail.asp?info=alarm&year=1998&make=Honda&model=Civic&ID=1051&type=Alarm

Now does my hatcback dx, have a second ignition? (Wire color Yellow). In a diferent diagram it says that Yellow wire is Accessory 1. I'm confused.

The wiring diagram also shows that the car has a Neutral Safety wire, is this also true, and where would I find it.

Thank you very much for your help, You have helped me install three alarms in the past. I appreciate it.

You should not need the nuetral safty.... most R/S's for automatics don't need that anymore

12 VOLTS	White	Ignition harness	+
IGNITION	BLACK / YELLOW	Ignition harness	+
ACCESSORY	Yellow	Ignition harness	+
STARTER	BLACK/ white	Ignition harness	+

What are you installing? Is the car auto, or manual trans?

Thanks for verifying what I was thinking. I did not think civics had two ignition wires.
Its a manual, The alarm I'm buying has a momentary - negative when remote start is activated. I'm planning on running that to a switch which I will hook up to the clutch wire.

Can you check the last page to make sure I'm right about the -negative momentary wire on the alarm. Thanks for your help.

yeah, it has a neg while starting, not exactly what its designed for.....you should definately find a system that is designed for a manual tranny......leave the car in gear once and it could mean bad news.

Yeah I know. First time I installed an alarm it was a 90 civic, left it in fourth smashed everything in the garage!!.
The switch I installed is for me to turn on only when I make sure car is in neutral, then turn it off after remote start. I do get nervous every time I remote started my other car though. Its just too cold.

I agree with mikvot....get a unit designed for manual trans. You could kill someone. And as YOU stated....it's already happened. The smashing of crap in your garrage is NOTHING. Do you want it to happen again? Im guessing the moderators will lock this topic in no time, since a few rules have been broken. You see, this is why I asked what you were installing. Remeber to include all this information in your original posts next time.

Why don't you just get a system designed for a manual transmission vehicle ? It's safer and will not give you that feeling that everytime you want to remote start the vehicle it's going to smash something up in your garage or another vehicle.

Also, please do not ask any member here how to bypass your system to make work on your car as this violates forum rules.

Well thanks for all the advice I do realize the risk just did not know about alarms designed for manual trans. I will look into that. And did not mean to violate the rules. Will read over again. Thanks again, you guys were really helpful.

compustar, ultrastart, and scytek all make dedicated manual transmission models so theres plenty to choose from.
