Did a remote start/alarm on an 03 H2 yesterday using the 1700g. All seemed to be fine. If you've done one, you know these things aren't difficult at all. I even drove the vehicle about 5 miles down the road and back. Just got a call from the customer saying that its shutting off after remote starting and even shut off on him while sitting at a stop light. He also said something about a low battery indicator on the message center. My first guess is that its something to do with the 1700g. I, along with a lot of other installers, have had a few problems with these before. Any sugggestions on what I should look for to find out if it is, in fact, the 1700g? I hate to replace it with a different module and send him down the road again only to have his problems reoccur. Also, I read on here somewhere that the 1700g had been recalled. Is that true? Thanks in advance for any info. Paul

never used a 1700g and couldnt imagine how it would cause the car to stop while he's driving since the vehicle is running on it's own, not by the power of the remote start. two things i can think of... 1. check if the battery post is loose...generally what causes that problem 2. check the tach wire. if you ground the tach while the vehicle is running, it will shut off. maybe the connection or tape job was bad

Heres an update on the H2. After looking at the vehicle again, I found that it idles at about 500 RPM, which seems to me to be very low. I don't know what it was idling at before I worked on it. I don't know what I could've done to make it idle lower. I got the tach at one of the injectors. Theres 4 wires in each injector plug, 3 of which are the same color on all. I used the odd colored wire on one. If there was a bad connection here, might it cause the idle speed to drop? Doesn't seem likely to me. The reason I think its an idle speed problem is because it only shuts off when its stopped at a stop light, stop sign, etc. after its been running for a while, but will crank right back up. Another thing, he says he only has this problem when its remote started. If he just gets in and cranks it with the key, he has no problems. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

the engine shoud idle around 900rpm, 500 is pretty low. try getting the tach from behind the instrument cluster. its not that difficult to get it out and theres only one plug behind it. you want the white wire, theres only one.
