hi,im installing a hornet alarm in a 2006f-150.my question is,do i have to diode isolate the door triggers which will be a pain or can i use the dome light to trigger the alarm?if so will the domelight delay effect the arming of the alarm and will i have to diode isolate the dome?       any advice would be appreciated.thank you

i isolate the door triggers...which is easy, you can get diodes at radio shack. The black blue will only trigger the alarm if the domelight switch is not in the full off position.

thanks for the reply mikvot.im not sure what you mean by the dome wire will only trigger alarm if the switch is not in the full off position.if      there is any way to use the black blue wire and the alarm function properly thats the route id like to take but if i have to isolate i will. thanks for the help

hook your BLACK/ light blue to the positive trigger it will work fine, i believe what he was refering to was if you leave your domelight switch in the on position, the alarm will time out and eventually bypass the doors and just give you shock protection. ive done hundreds of these trucks and never had a customer complaint or problem with the door trigger

also, you might have to change an option on the alarm, so it will not chirp 3 times every time you arm. I dont know that system, so i cant tell you for sure.

what will the feature your talking about mikvot do?why would it chirp 3 times when armed by using the BLACK/ blue?is it because the domelight will be on when i arm?

yes, because of the domelight delay, when you shut the door, the domelight stays on for a while. If you arm the alarm after you shut the door, it will think one of the doors is open. You can change an option on the alarm to only make it chirp once, no matter if a door is open or not. This is why i use true door triggers when i can, especially on that truck, it adds a few minutes to the install, because of the diodes and running the wire, but you dont have to worry about having to disable a useful feature of the alarm.

if i turn this fearure(door trigger bipass chirp)off and when i arm the alarm i know ill only get the one chirp but when the dome light finally goes out will the door trigger be an active circuit or will it be bipassed because the dome light was on when armed? last question on this guys,i promise.thanks for the replies

It will only bypass that zone until the domelight goes off.....so yes, it will still trigger the alarm.

Go into the running board in the drivers kick and find pink/green and pink / YELLOW in the harness running towards the back of the vehicle. This is where i catch lock and unlock. They will be the only smaller guage wires of this color.

Also, check all of your wiring at the steering column, if your wipers are turning on, its possible you have a wrong wire tagged there.
