What do you guys use? Do you stick a blank key in a box or use a key wrap and program it for the vehicle, or do you use a module that doesn't require a key? I've installed both ways, and personally, I like using the modules. Its costs more most times, but safer and easier. Seem to see less problems that way. Of course, on some vehicles, you cannot program the keys yourself (Honda, Toyota, Nissan), but like on a Ford, GM, or Dodge/Chrysler, you can get a blank key from Howard Keys and program it. Just wondering what everybody likes to do.

At this point using a module that requires the customer to lose a key is outdated for the most part. It's very rare that we use key in the box bypasses anymore.

I will use a module on any vehicle that does not require cutting any factory wiring to install. The Nissan and Honda modules require cutting a wire so I use a key in a box bypass. The GMs and Fords are the easiest in my opinion and I will use the data tie in bypasses before all others, the Chryslers fight me every time I try to program a Sentry bypass module to it. Most work out, but I recently had a post on here about a Charger that just refused to accept the module.

I also mostly use modules. But i know other installers in my area who all they use is Key Wraps. The only use modules if they absolutely have to. Not the best way to do things in my opinion.
