Figured that out on my truck. The second unit I bought, but haven't installed, for the wife's car is going back this week.

What is a quality remote starter? I don't need an alarm, or keyless entry as the Pacifica has this already. We just want a remote starter that has more than a 20ft range.

FYI, on the 2004 Dodge Ram, if you connect the TAN/GREEN wire to the WHITE/ BLUE wire on the BOA module, you won't have to carry the POS BOA remote and just double tap your door lock button on the factory keyless entry remote, the remote start activates. At least that's the only way I am able to start the truck from my office, where I can clearly see my truck in the parking lot no more than a 100 ft away and was unable to use the BOA remote to start it.

Yeah, not real happy with the BOA. Should have known better. You get what you pay for.

Wow, the factory remote actually has BETTER range than the Boa?

I use Audiovox remote starters. They make a nice 1-button starter, with a small remote, and good range. And you get two remotes, of course.

These are their 2007 models, with unusual-looking remotes, and 1000 (claimed) feet of range:

Pursuit PRO-9056
Prestige APS-901
(same product; just different packaging and different names on the remotes)

These 2005-2006 models are still a fine choice, if you find one still availalble. The remotes look better, and are smaller, but they only have 600 (claimed) feet of range:

Code Alarm CA-420 (rectangular remotes)
Audiovox AS-9055 or AS-9055T (oval remotes)

We use the Avox too, few problems and a good price. They also have the 9075 which is designed to connect to your factory remote if you prefer.

I couldn't be any further than about 30 ft from the truck in a 2 acre parking lot(no obstructions) and the Boa would not work. I'm actually considering not buying anything that his Directed's name printed on solely on the performance of this item. They really need to take thier name off that entire brand.

I did notice Chrysler does make a factory remote starter, but again, factory seems to be marginal as best as far as remote range is concerned.

I'll look into the models posted and do a little more research. No more impulse buying on things like that. ;)

Thanks guys.

hey gitchesum, factory does not make chryslers remote starter option( yes the factory is doing remote start like gm on their high line models), but the one available thru parts/service is made by code syatems( code-alarm/audiovox) and has the same remotes as the code 420 minus the chrysler star and minus the over charged price tag! LOL
boa is dei's "cheap" d.i.y. line ( which is bad for our industry cause as we all know these new cars can be a bitch and dei's wanting 16 yr old kids to watch a dvd and do mommys car and then bring it to experienced guys and gals like us to fix their screw ups! LOL)
dei is just getting to be whored out as they no longer care about their products just the almighty dollar

Had someone bring a 165B to me over the weekend. I figured, it's made by DEI, why not install it. Well, let me tell you after the hour and a half of trying to get the remote to program, sitting on hold for 45 minutes waiting for a tech to answer why the remote won't program, the lack of programming options and the fact that it is all aluminum wiring, I will never do another one.

The owner has to reprogram the remotes any time the battery in the vehicle needs to be changed, and they have to stand 5' away to get the damned remote to program, you cannot turn off the stupid flashing parking lights, you can not change run times (12 minutes), no positive parking light outputs, no factory alarm rearm (to shut off RAP). It is JUNK!

This system really does reflect poorly on DEI. I am a huge DEI fan, quality, performance, price, all very good on everything I have done, EXCEPT for the BOA line. It is absolute garbage! OK, DEI wants to whore around and sell a do it yourself model, that's great, but I have to tell you the Designtech of old was better than this current BOA junk. OK, done my rant...thank you for your time. posted_image
