I have a dei 560xv which has a trigger wire that can be used to remote start the car in addition to the remote. I was thinking of building some sort of a microphone/audio trigger that would send a pulse to that wire to remote start the car. i dont think this would be too difficult. I would obviously have to purchase a normal pager. So when i call it, the sound would trigger the microphone which would send a signal to the wire to start the car. Has anyone done anything like this? Or can someone provide any insight on how i might put it together.

That's a sweet idea -- incorporate your own, inexpensive cellular technology to trigger the r/s to activate.

I don't have your answer on how to produce your transducer, but I wonder how you will be able to isolate the frequency of the sound from the pager to all the remote starter to discriminate from the pager sound vs. another high pitched sound (like cop sirens/horns) that may occur to accidentally trigger the r/s.

What about tapping into the transducer in the pager itself and create a mechanical output that is triggered (which you can connect to a relay) which will trigger the r/s?  I imagine the transducer is easy enough to find on the circuit board of the pager.
