I am using a GM-SL2 Crimestopper. Everything has been fine for a week but now after remote start I will get a sercurity light warning or a service engine soon light. With using the GM-SL2 I thoght I didn't have to diode isolate the parking lights.
This is on a 2004 Monte Carlo LS
I used a GM-SL2 on my 2005 Silverado, the parking lights are controlled by the data bus. The Pink/Black (-) input on the GM-SL2 connects to the (-) parking light output on the remote start module, no diode is necessary.
Same thing I did ...............connect databus to gmsl2............Then connect parking light wire on gmsl2 to (-) parking light wire on alarm.
So why are my service and securerity warnings going off?

Still having the same problem. Do I have to use a diode? Is there something else that would case this. The following is what happens now:
1st remote start car
2nd unlock doors
3rd put key in ing and turn to on
4th as soon as I push the brake the dash lights go out and come back on and i get a security warning light
Yes. I have now tried reprograming it 3 times and still the same.
I think there is a light blue neg parking light wire at the switch that will not trip the SES light.
I just did an 05 silverado this weekend. used same module. i wired everything correctly and when it came to starting the car, it would start on the first try. but it would shut off 5 seconds later and it also triggered the engine light. I found out that the module was bad. I was also told by other installers that the GM-SL2 has way to many bugs and has been recalled. You can try using another GM-SL2, but I would rather use the GM-SL. I believe seeing a GM-SL2i which is supposed to have all the bugs fixed. I just havent used it before. I hope that helps you out.
