Subject: horn honk on r/s shutsown 04 trailblazer
Date Posted: February 25, 2007 at 11:51 AM

I recently installed an ultrastart 4270 in this rig with a gmdl-bp(omega version). Everything is working great, only there is a minor issue that doesn't affect the way the r/s works, just annoying. When the r/s is shut down via remote, or brake pedal, or is timed out the horn will honk on the trailblazer and the doors lock. Is there any way to stop this from happening? Thanks for the input in advance

Does the trailblazer sound the horn during normal locking/arming of the vehicle? Or do you have to hit lock a few times before it sounds the horn?

The manual says....for negative horn output, or pos(+) siren output. It appears you get to choose. I would disconnect the output from the horn. Look at menu 1 setting #2

Thanks for the replies. None of the outputs from the alarm are connected to the horn at all. I think it is the bypass module or something else. It only happens at r/s shutdown. It doesn't happen when you r/s and get in the rig and turn the key to run and push the brake. Only on shut down from remote or from brake pedal input w/o the key on run. the horn doesn't honk at any other time. only the r/s siren will chirp as it should be.

The bypass does cause a horn honk when rearming the factory security. You can use a timed relay to break the horn connection temporarily while it rearms. https://www.directechs.com/techtips/pdfs/resources/security/directed_techtips/1054.pdf

now I am having another issue with this trailblazer. It doesn't do this all the time only 3out of 5 , but the alarm will sound after the doors lock and alarm arms. It happens after the dome lights go out. weird! Anyone see this before?

Which alarm sounds the factory one or the ultra?

never seen it be intermittent, but that horn honk and lock is a feature of the pgmdlbp that you used.

Does it say on the remote which trigger is open ie setting it off. Maybe its possible that the domelight is triggering it?. If you have the door trigger hooked to the gmdl-bp try just hooking it into the alarm brain (only) input and see if that works. Just an idea I haven't really expereinced this trouble on trailblazer.

Did ya use the door pin output on the bypass or the ones on the vehicle?    Iv'e heard of chevs doing this when you use the door trigger off he gmdlbp bypass.. [don't know if the Omega version has this feature but???]

I used the input from the module. Should I try to take the input directly to the r/s unit from the rig, instead of from the bypass module? (I'll also verify from the remote what is triggering, thanks for the idea xtremej)

Hymer fyi the omega db-gmdl-bp is made by trilogix aka bypasskit.com. jmac let me know how it turns out I have a customer that wants an alarm start put in there trailblazer.

I am going to look at it again this afternoon. I'll keep it for a couple of hours, monitor the remote, and trydisconnecting the dome input to the module. we will see. I'll keep you posted.

I kinda figured it was made by trilogix, but yes, I would use the actual door pins on the truck itself. Its a pain because of having to get them in the driver and pass door, and the rears are in the door boots, but at least your not fighting with the bypass [something you can't neccisarrally verify is working.] I have had issues with crew cab chevs where the rear doors can be opened and the alarm wont trigger, or it will trigger a few minuts later. Doing it the real way, will ensure a (-) is sent as soon as that door is opened and the alarm sounds...
