I have a 1990 nissan 300zx and just installed a new hornet 564t with the 2way lcd tranmitter remote start
ok i have problem...
let me tell you exactly what i did step by step....i hooked up all my wires correctly...tightly.and neatly..all the wires except the brakeshut down and hookpin because i just wanted to see if the baby would start up..never make that mistake again.....heres why....i forgot to program the tach wire because i was rushing to get this done! so i hit that starter button and o boy my starter was whinding for a good 10seconds as i was rushing to pull the plug on the brain...i yanked H1 out and stopped the havic....now im screaming at my self...so i go to program the tach wire....it wont program..check and check and check the wire making sure it was teh rite one and good connection...it was the rite wire..and still it refuses to program..so i put the alarm on voltage read....so i start it with the transmitter...the engine cranks and when it turns over it shuts down...ive checked a bunch of wires...i do have 2 starter wires but they are tied into eachother and diode isolated even tho they are the same guage size not the usual skinny and fat...so i check my ignition wire while the remote start cranks the engine, and when the motor kicks over the ignition wire cuts power, now i could higher the crank time but still my tach wire wont program and i will not go on without it programming so i can have the correct start...still i can hear my motor kick over then shut down. ive checked all the fuses everythings good and tight...do you think i messed up the relay satalittle or brain while ripping the plug out in the start procres??..helpppp!!
1. Why didn't you just deactivate the starter via the remote? Pressing the star twice again shuts the unit off.
2. It sounds like you may not have the correct tachometer wire. For a test, try putting the unit into voltage sensing with the crank time at about 1 second. If your car starts and runs then you know you have the wrong tachometer reference wire and can troubleshoot it from there. All of the wires running to and from the brain on that ribbon cable are just negative and positive inputs and outputs. You can verify each and every wire on the ribbon cable with a DMM. Just take a look at the wiring chart in the installation manual and check each wire to verify it is operating as the manual says it should be(ie, the purple in the ribbon goes to ground only when the RS is cranking the starter).
