I have a 1997 silverado that I am hooking up a keyless entry/alarm to I have got everything hooked up except the alarm part of it. I am having problembs with it. The unit is from IC DYNAMICS model 3ka there is a a addendum sheet that says if you wire the system to act as an alarm and sound the horn if the doors are opened that you need a relay and hook up the wires like this terminal 87 to 12 volts pos.the orange wire from the module to terminal 85 terminal 30 to the horn 87a not used terminal 86 to door jamb switch. I hooked the wires up like this but it does not work all my wires from the door switch show cont. to ground when the door is opened.does anyone know how I can hook this up.
Where are you hooking up to the horn? This sounds like a pretty screwy setup. Most likley the diagram they suggest is for vehicles with + door swithces. You would need to add another relay but personally I wouldn't bother as it is not much of an alarm!
To make it work with a second relay do this
85 - door trigger that is - when either door is opened
86 - +12v fused
30 - +12v fused
87 - to 86 of the second relay
For the other relay hook it up exactly like they suggest except for terminal 86 which should be done as above.
The relay will click everytime either door is opened.
This might not be right but should work from what I can see. It is hard to guess exactly how this system is to be setup.
The horn neg. wire comes from the wiring harnes from the stering coll. it is a neg. wire and it says to connect to terminal 30 of the relay the orange wire comes from the module of the system that I bought it is screwy and I am ready to throw it away the alarm part of it I just want it to sound the horn when the doors are opened when I lock the doors with the remote
