I have the Clifford Matrix 10.5 (i think), with the LCD remote. Well I broke my LCD and I am able to get a Viper LCD remote a lot cheaper than the Clifford one, so can i use it? are they compatible? Thanks in advanced.

the remote for a Viper 5000 would be compatible....     just don't expect to use a Responder remote.....

the display would work with the proper compatible remote... but the Responder units are FSK and the 10.5X & 5000 are ASK... they are only "Responder looking" not a true Responder remote......

you need a 489 V/X/P  remote.......

i also have a question along the same lines, i have a Matrix 2.5 installed in which i broke the first remote, and have purchased a viper remote and was told it would work, (remote RPN 479v/p/x) after linking the remote i find that only the channel 1 button works, and it locks and unlocks, instead of just locking. and the other buttons don't do anything. is there a way around this?

reprogram the remote again and read the instruction it came with. you have programed it to use the lock button to arm and diarm. read the instructions and you will have the lock button arming the alarm and the unlock button disarming the alarm, along with the spare channels on the remote will work okay.

it's usually best when learning a remote to "auto-learn remote"... much quicker and easier.....
