I had the 791 installed at bestbuy about 7 months ago and everything was working fine. I started the car with the remote start and everything worked. when i turned the car off the engine shut off but all the electrical stuff continued to run ie lights, radio. Now the car will not start manually or with the remote start and the only way to get the lights and radio off is to dissconnect the battery. i tried putting it in valet mode but its the same. I also tried jump starting the car and it starts up fine but it cuts off in about 3 secs. When i contacted best buy they told me it wasnt a issue with the alarm but no one can find anything else wrong with the car.

The dealership (or whome ever you have do repairs on your car) is going to blame the alarm/remote start, and Best Buy is going to try their best to take the liability off of them. You are in a tough spot my friend.... I believe ytou have a problem with the viper. I would ask best buy would get under the dash if you get the car into them....your gonna have to pay "someone" to look at the car, I would pay Best buy. SO when they find somehting wrong with their product, or their install.....problem solved.

I'm goin out on a limb here.....it's best buy, and DEI's fault your car will not start.

Before anyone flames me.......it's just MY opinion.posted_image

You can't at this point blame DEI or bestbuy.

Have bestbuy drop the dash and unplug the remote start main relay module harness...this should take all of 5 minutes.

If the problem goes away it is the remote starts fault.  If not..the installer needs to make sure that the constant wire is not shorting against an accy or other wire..which would cause this exact problem. If the installer was a bit careless there may be wire strands touching each other at the main connections not being properly insulated...seen this before..easy fix.

If all that checks out there is something wrong with the vehicle and it should be under warranty UNLESS the dealer can prove that the remote start or install caused the problem...yes..you may have a battle on your hands in that case..but the law is on your side. Could be a bad ignition switch..seen this before..that most likely is a mechanical problem with the switch and the remote start has no effect on that part of the ignition.

But regardless...... have BB try what I suggested and theres a very good chance it is a quick easy fix.  Just be nice and explain your issue to the shop..if they are not being helpful see a manager and politly explain the situation.

Get back to me if they won't help you..I have some pull over at Bestbuy in the mobile electronics dept.

Good Luck
