I installed a omega excalliber alarm w/ remote start in a co-workers car...i used the chip out of one of his keys so that the remote start would work...now the car won't start with the other key with the chip in it...the light in the cluster that show that the right key is in the ignition is flashing...i read the owners manual for the car and it says that the immobilizer is malfunctioning.
I then took the ring that recognizes the chip off the ignition and the key with the chip will start the car.
I was wondering if the 2 chips are canceling each other out
any help will be usefull
thanks
Seems that is exactly what is happening. Make sure the bypass unit is wired so it only sends the code during RS. You are using a bypass module..right? If not..you have to..or make your own. If you are using a module tell us what brand and how you have it connected.

not using a module...what module should i use...this is my first remote start i have installed on a vehicle with an immobalizer
There are quite a few units you can use. For that vehicle if the customer has an extra key I use the DEI 556u. You place the extra key into the module and hide it. You connect 12v+ , ground, and a wire that goes to (-)out status from the remote start unit (immobilizer bypass output).
Then there is a wire ring that goes around the ring on the ignition switch. Thats it...5 minute install and it works. It only sends the key code during remote start...when you start it with a key the code from the module is not seen so they don't interfere with each other.
