Subject: what alarm brand would you recommend

Ok guys, I am a full time student and I honestly can't get a job as an installer because of my school schedule. I have tried every place within my area and no luck. I have the knowledge and more than enough experience to install R/S and security systems. I would like to install alarms and R/S on the weekends on my own. But I dont know what car alarms I should offer. I want to offer a quality product at an affordable price. What brands would you guys recommend? I honestly can't afford living off an $8/hr job, so this is the best way for to earn some money. Thanks for the help.

I deal mostly with Omega Products, the price is reasonable and the quality is outstanding. There are systems with more bells & whistles to them but for a quality reliable product Omega is the way to go!

I like my scytek 2 way alarm, but I am definitely a fan of Omega.  Great customer support, great products, and great price.

are you asking what brand for your own car?  or what brand based on what you are hoping to have access to buying and reselling?

I am partial to Clifford.... but i doubt you could buy direct.... or even through a sub-distributor.....based on the small #'s you would probably be looking at....

We've had luck with CODE, Crimestopper, and Autopage - very reliable! I'm surprised nobody has said Viper! I mean prices are dropping to accommodate the online pricing boom! But those top 3 are the best and they're pretty well known! AND the reliability and end-user support is great too!

ScyTek is kinda fluke, i am just below the threshold of satisfaction for thier product.  You can get Viper's and DEI off of Ebay, just no dealer support status =[.  Find a good seller.

My preference is the DEI product line. The Viper, Python, Clifford brands are their flagship products and being such they are not warrantied to a non-authorized dealer. Since you are not going to moving a large amount of product and will not have a store front I doubt if they will set you up as a dealer. I would try to find a distributor that would sell you DEI's non-flagship products like Avital or Valet. These products are made the same way as their other high end products, are just as reliable, and much easier to get.

i did have an avital tornado2, it was a good alarm. pretty basic but reliable till i tried to use the second keyfob, it wouldnt recognize it.i tried erasing both and reprogramming them but it would only recognize the first (the one used the most) and not the second. changed batteries in 2nd keyfob with still no luck. looked for a new one online and well i got a whole diffrent alarm for about the same price as a new keyfob, albeit it was off of ebay. the second keyfob did get programmed after initial installation and worked fine. only after it didnt get used for a while is when i started haveing trouble with it.

Audiovox is the sleeper brand you must check out. The APS-998 by far is the most complete system I have ever worked with.

Hey guys, nobody mention Black Widow alarms...........I have intall many Black Widow products and they are OK. So what you think about Black widow Brand?

Also, I am curious........................How this guy Pro 17 will buy direct from all these brands? Maybe he will not move a lot of units.................What I mean, what will be the best from him to get the best price so he can offer good prices and have a good profit?

I would have to say my best preference is going to be Galaxy Products, they are packed with options and go in pretty painless. posted_image
