2005 sunfire, remote start

I just installed a remote starter on a 2005 Sunfire, I used the proper bypass box (pass lock II) supplied by the customer.
But the security light remains on instrument cluster.
Any Ideas? The type of bypass I have has me select the appropriate resistance by switching "on and off" 10 different switches.

If it still starts with both the key and RS I would have to think that your resistance is close but not close enough to what the vehicle needs to see and causing the light to come on. If it is starting with the key and not starting with the RS then I would think your resistance is not correct. Understanding that the person already had the bypass, I would still try to talk them into a GMBP. The adjustable resistance bypasses are not known for long term reliability.

make sure you have all the remote start wires correctly wired to where they need to be. I know that there is 1 wire that if its not wired correctly, your car will still start, but the check engine light will come on. I think it is the wire that goes to your heater  (orange)

12volts is correct, the resistance the bypass is putting out is close but not close enough, keeping the security light on during remote start. these bypasses will burn you in the end because you have to cut the passlock yellow wire, the bypass fails within 2 years and the CAR WON'T START WITH THE KEY OR REMOTE. GMBP connects to the car through the OBD port for the scanner under the dash and you do not have to cut any factory wires, thus the potential for the bypass to cause the car to not start with the key is gone.

What bypass module are you using ? Chances are you wired everything up properly seeing that it will remote start successfully, but the SECURITY LIGHT issue can be one of a few problems but we need to know what brand and model bypass module you have in there. Also, do you remember what resistance value you had on the Sunfire ?

Just to throw two cent's in some places sell the dip switch style pl2 bypass because it retails for a lot less then any that hook to the obd two wire.... But the advantage to going with a data wire module is that most will control door locks and passlock 2, thus making the install easier.    I have used the dip switch style alot and have had this problem once, the best thing to do is go back in re-test the resitance when started with the key both ways and then use the median of those two as your settings with the dip switch.

Found the problem guys, thanks! I had two of my ten switches that were wrong. Probably as was mentioned it must have been close enough to start but not enough to keep the security light off.
GMBP sounds like a much better Idea...I'll be trying that on the next one.
