Out of curiosity, how does the negative output for the horn (-200mA) trigger the horn if I just tie it into the horn wire ( The horn wire rests at 12V then goes to ground with honk)?

I'm asking this because I was told that I don't need a relay for my  Autopage RS-750lcd install on  a 1997 yukon 2-door .

Thanks,

no you wont need a relay the car has one . mostly older imports is where you will need a relay before airbags the horns were wired direct.

How does a -200mA pulse trigger the horn?  I am just curious and would like to understand how this "black box" works...

Thanks,

it send a signal to the horn relay in the car that honks the horn . similar to a trunk release - output to the relay the relay does the work  same therory here with the horn

Whoa, this changes a couple of things...

my diagrams say it is + at the switch in the dash . so yes you will need a relay

Does this sound right?

For the rear hatch, I found a wire (BLACK/ white at the kick panel), that rests at ground and goes to 12V when the switch on the dash is actuated.  I plan to use a relay to trigger this wire as follows:

30- BLACK/ white at kick panel, 85- 12V, 86- Grey wire from Autopage H9/2, 87- 12V, 87A- none

Is it ok to tap the black wire going from the dash switch to the rear hatch or do I need to cut this wire (BLACK/ white at kick panel)  and place the switch side on 87a and the hatch side on 30?  I would rather tap it, but I don't want to fry anything.

i would cut it and run it thru the relay just to be safe it wont hurt it to cut it but if you tap and it is wrong you will blow a fuse somewhere.

Weiweiwei,
