The white wire to my dome light is hot when the light is off and ground when it is on.On my alarm where it tells me to connect the white wire to the trigger and if the trigger is negative connect the WHITE/ black wire to ground. And if the trigger is positive switching connect the WHITE/ black wire to a constant+12 volt.

Question is which do i have/do?

would rather connect to dome light wire than door triggers

Thanks

You have a negative trigger dome light. Make sure the dome light comes on with ALL doors.

I have a 2002 cavalier and i ran the negative door trigger wire from the alarm along with the dome light output of the alarm (using a relay for the domelight) and ran those to the white wire for the domelight itself. If all your doors cause the domelight to turn on, then this method will work. When either door is opened, the domelight turns on causing the "door trigger" wire to trigger, thus setting off the alarm. And I domelight is a negative wire. If you need to know how to wire the relay, let me know

He should not need a relay....this unit is designed for either negative, or posative doors. Just use BOTH wires for the triggers, as stated in the instructions.

As you said in your original post. connect the white wire to the trigger and if the trigger is negative connect the WHITE/ black wire to ground.

No the trigger wire doesnt need a relay at all. The relay is for the domelight.
