I'm having trouble getting the Direct Start model 423 to work in my 02 camry. My parking lights blink, but the car dosent crank.
1. I think my car requires two wires to start and the remote starter only has one. Is it safe to tie the two wires toghter?
2. Next, I have three BLACK/ orange wires going to the ECM, how do I know which one is the tach wire. Others have posted that the tach wire in my car is in the 31 pin connector location #5, but I dont know how to determine which wire is pin #5. How can I determine the correct wire with a test light or meter?
3. Is there an installer in the Cincinnati area ? ?

when you find the 31 pin connector start counting pins from side to side or up and dow see which one faals in pin 5 or backward, the chances are you will find you wire or Tach White ( AC ) AT INJECTOR any fuel injector

Is up to the installer to test all wires with a DMM whenever possible.
does your rs have a neatural safty switch??grab your tach @ a fuel injector wire if all else fales...your tach signal is a + & - pulse very fast.....
1. I tie them together on every Camry I do; probably a couple hundred so far---haven't seen any trouble because of it.
At another branch of the company I work for, they've seen a few Camry integration relays fail, and they suspect it's because of tying the starter wires together, but I haven't seen any evidence to prove this is the cause.
2. To the right of the steering column is a series of about five plugs. In the gray plug, there are two BLACK/ orange wires. The wire closer to the center of the plug is tach.
Try not to use an injector for tach on the Camry. Or at least I should say, whatever you do, carefully check how the over-rev protection works on your Direct Start unit. The 4-cylinder Camry revs up to about 2200 RPM for a few moments on very colds mornings. I've seen a few instances with Camrys, where during a cold start, the over-rev protection kicks in.
Also, here's a comprehensive document I wrote detailing nearly every security wire in the new Camry, including pictures:
