Hey guys I have a 2006 GMC Canyon with a factory alarm, I want to install a viper 5000 but I looked at the schematics and the only way to disarm the factory alarm is with the factory remotes. What can I use or do so my viper 5000 will disarm the factory alarm? Thanks in advance.

since the factory alarm arms and disarms with the factory remote only, when you install your alarm, make sure that you disarm the factory system with the factory remote. you shouldn't use the factory remote anymore for locking your vehicle. you shouldn't have trouble with the factory alarm going off on you.

the reason to install the aftermarket alarm is because it's a 2 way alarm, I don't want to have the guy carrying both factory, and aftermarket remotes. plus if he locks the door with the doorlock switch it's going to arm the factory alarm now he won't be able to disarm the factory alarm because he won't be carrying the factory remote. I need to be able to disarm the factory alarm with the aftermarket alarm.

What he was trying to say is that the OEM alarm can ONLY BE ARMED with the OEM remote FOB. Even locking the doors manaully or with the inside switch can not arm the OEM alarm system. So if your installing a aftermarket alarm system with keyless entry it will not arm the OEM alarm with the locking feature. You have nothing to worry about, but just make sure that the customer knows not to use the OEM remote FOB anymore.

thanks Velocity looked at the truck today you are right, now I looked at the schematic for  remote start the accesory wire loses voltage to let the truck start do I need to do anything else or just use the two relays with resistor to interface with the passlock, ignition, etc.

Nothing else needed other than the bypass for the Passlock system for remote start.
