Hey all. Hoping someone can shed some light...

Scytek Galaxy 2000RS in a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX. Customer wanted to add a remote start, and was fine with two remotes (so I didn't have to go crazy on the install replicating the factory keyfob). I have a PKH3 Honda / Acura interface (keyless) installed with the Galaxy 20000RS. Here's the issue and how I thought I had it licked:

When remote started, the Intellikey light in the dash flashes, even when the customer puts in the key and presses on the brake to drive under the car's power. The PKH3 is correctly programmed; I went through the learning setup a few times to make sure. The minivan starts up the first time, every time when using the RS. If I start the car just using the key without remote starting, the flashing Intellikey light goes out (as it should).

The installation included, among the other standard connections:

- 2000RS Ground-out-while-running wire hooked to (1)PKH3 brown trigger wire and to (2)the RED / white keysense wire in the steering column (diode isolated)
- 2000RS Factory alarm disarm wire to white wire in driver's door window switch
- PKH3 black ground wire to chassis ground (not the ground ref wire for the immobilizer - is this the prob?)
- PKH3 data wire and ignition wires correctly hooked up

The RS, when initialized, unlocks the doors, disables the factory alarm, starts the car, then re-locks the doors (I pulled the door lock/unlock wires from behind the glovebox). I did NOT hook up the "factory alarm arm" wire, since the customer users her factory keyfob to lock and arm (she hits the lock button twice and the doors lock and horn honks).

So what am I missing? Ask away. If I left out any important details in the installation that you need to know, call me out on it. I'd love to have this thing 100%, even though it works great and she's happy with it regardless of the flashing Intellikey light.

Any thoughts appreciated!
Erik

Well, since i don't use this equipment, or haven't done an 07 odyssey, this is a shot in the dark. I've looked at the bypass wiring info, and i'm not seeing anything about hooking up the keysense wire at all. As for the black ground wire, it shouldn't matter where you have it grounded...as long as you got ground.

With the H3 bypass, did you just tap into the ignition wire, or did you cut the ignition wire in half and use the pink and pink/white wires.  the pink wire is the ignition in side, and the pink/white is the ignition out (to key cylinder)  The ignition wire (usually yellow/black) for the transponder system must be interrupted or the security light will go on during remote start only.

Frank,

I definitely cut the transponder ignition wire, and I made sure that I had the key side and ECM side correctly wired to the PKH3's pink / pink-white. I triple-checked this before taping up the steering column at the end of the install.
I can cut it open again to see, but I'd hate to bother the customer just to check.

As for the keysense... although some say it's not necessary, I hooked it up anyway to the (-) status out of the RS. It made no difference to the flashing Intellikey dash light, since I remote started it with and without the keysense hooked up.

Logically, it HAS TO come back to the PKH3 wiring. I can't think of anything else. If I get a call from my customer, I'll pull it apart and look one more time!

Thanks.

I have used the PKH3 a couple dozen times and have never had a problem with one. I even have one in my car.

I do a couple things differently than you though.
--- I never hook up the keysense wire.
--- I always connect the PKH3 ground to the ground reference wire in the immobilzer harness Should be black on that Odyssey.

I would also remove the diode from your Ground When Running wire, and have it only trigger the PKH3. The voltage drop from the diode may be causing a problem.

One more thing I thought of....
DId you power up any of the 2 accessory wires in the car as ignition wires? I've seen that cause strange problems in a Honda before.

we've had problems with the pkh3's frying ecms, so we stopped using them after we fried 3 ecms.  Now we only use a key in the box bypass on all hondas.

I've been using PKH3's for YEARS and never had any problems with electronics.

I'd be checking install at that point.

Hey - great thought! I don't think I reprogrammed the 2nd ignition back to "second accessory" when I removed and reconnected the RS unit!!!

I'll check and let everyone know.
